Holy guacamole!

Can't get a hand at the tables at all!

Well.... I could have maybe played at the weekend but was not in that frame of mind...

On Friday the owner of the company I work for finally admitted that things are not good with the finances. Seems he had to plough some of his own money in just to pay the wages. Not good.

BUT... Could be the best thing to happen to me tbh. I am a little bit "too comfortable" there if you get me!?

Some unfulfilled potential methinks!

Tonight I am taking a lesson to hopefully accelerate my education so if I do suddenly become unemployed I can make some good money!

Wing Chun class first though...

Maybe some hands later but it's kinda doubtful. God I miss you poker!!!

I didn't play for 5 days!

Well... I spent a lot of time talking to a really good player who plays 200z and 500z and he gave me some great advice on some of my leaks and especially my preflop game.

Hopefully he won't mind talking to me a bit more because I learned more in a 2 hour chat with this dude than in God knows how many years of playing/getting coached!

Anyway, jumped onto the tables tonight and played 1 table of Zoom to look at my preflop game...

Maybe I should come back when I have got a decent sample huh!!!!!!!!????? :f_drink:

P.S. I still have a job today. Have to see about tomorrow!!!!!!! :f_o:

Er yeah, another short session... Basically calming down after another crazy day both at work and at home!

In before #lolsamplesize, #gtfo, #fishonaheater

Staying really positive IRL at the moment. I always believe that nature has its ways and as one door looks like it is about to shut and smash your teeth in another door opens and gently guides you into a place of ABUNDANCE!

130 hands ffs!!!!!!!!! LMAO! :wtf:

Work is a bit busier these last few days so maybe we will last a bit longer! The underlying problem is still there but the owner cannot see it in front of his face.

Funny thing is that his family are coming out with gems like "we use too much toilet rolls"!!!!!!!

Erm... Yeah, thanks for the input, very useful... Perhaps the fact that you are being paid £20 an hour to talk to your friends on the phone all day might be a bigger issue?????????

After I calmed down last night I played for an hour...

I had a little spell in the middle there where all my 3b and 4b bluffs got called or re-raised and I whiffed etc but other than that it felt pretty damned good! :nh:

I read a short article about procrastination yesterday. It was really tip-toeing around the truth (makes people feel good about themselves see)...

In my real world if you procrastinate it is one of these things...

Either...

1. You are a lazy ****!!!!!!!!!!!

or

2. You just don't WANT it enough (and in which case why the hell are you doing it!?)

P.S. Not saying I don't do/be either of those things BUT I don't give it some long word and pussy-foot around the TRUTH!

Have a great weekend amigos. Let me know if you know of any jobs going with decent pay and where toilet roll usage is not an issue!!!!!!!!!!!! :sifflote: :sifflote: :sifflote:

I got another "self help" email today about TIME MANAGEMENT. What the hell is that all about? Oh, stop me before I say it again!!!!!!!

It means you are a lazy **** or you don't want it enough!

Trouble is people spend half their lives reading/watching this shit because it makes them feel like they are doing something!

Get off your ass and GO AND TAKE ACTION!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, I calm down now.......

Got an hour in late last night but was not in the best frame of mind after another 9 hour shift in the loonie bin!!!!!!!!

I think they are trying to get me to smash their faces in so they don't have to pay redundancy or something!?

It's working!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend amigos! :f_drink:

Believe it or not I am currently at work! On a Saturday morning!? Haven't seen a customer in 4 hours!!!!!!!!

I managed to play a few hands over the weekend...

Graph is a bit off though as it missed a whole 100bb pot off!!!

One that I lost!!!! :f_cry:

I am having a bit of trouble folding lately and am spewing a little with some bluffs. Still that is way more fun than folding all of the time eh!!!??? :f_rolleyes:

Not been sleeping too well last few nights. I think it is because my brain is overactive with all the crap going on IRL. I am pretty confident everything is going to turn out just fine so hopefully I will get over that.

Meditation is helping as always but as soon as I start talking about stuff I can feel the anger building up! _evil:

I might spend an hour on my kick bag tonight. Draw some faces on it first too!!! :censored:

Had a great weekend with my family though. Nothing can affect that!

I ended up missing Wing Chun class last night which is something I HATE doing!

Firstly I wasn't sure whether to go... Work was pretty ridiculous again and I was just not in the mood and wanted to go home and talk to my wife and spend time with the kids.

Secondly on my drive after work I was still unsure. To make the decision easy my wife got stranded a few miles from home in the car with a migraine! This meant she could not see properly to drive so with 2 kids on board she was stuck!!! :censored:

It takes me an hour to drive home after work but luckily she felt better after 30 minutes and drove back herself. Otherwise I would have had to dump my car at home and run 15 minutes to get to her to bring them home in her car!

Massive relief! Did not feel like doing that!!!! 8-o

So without going to training I put the kids to bed and then did some personal stuff to prepare myself for possible unemployment. I need a bit of cash to invest into myself for this, a bit more than I have stashed around so need to ask a few friends for small favours. I'm good for it! xD

I played a couple of hours last night. Fired up a few Zoom tables for a bit of fun and a chill...

Running so hot lately!!!

It's a good job as the rest of the day is pretty frustrating lately!!!!!

Got parents evening for my kids tonight at school. Should be fun!!! :sifflote:

Question...

Does anybody else get this every ten minutes..?

I have been getting it a lot lately and have timed out a couple of times restarting the programme.

Being an OAP I am not sure what to do! :sifflote:

Gratitude

I would like to take this opportunity to show my gratitude to the Gods for allowing me to run good so much lately! :profit:

I am playing for fun and to relax and seem to be crushing this month!

It is a very small sample as I am not really putting much effort in to it but the buy-ins have been rolling in!!!

I can't imagine how I would feel if I was running bad at the tables just now. I am holding myself back at work all day so that I don't give somebody a pasting so if I got tilted at the tables on top of that I might explode!!! :censored:

Last night's small sample...

Long may it continue!!!

Money

I asked about ten people to help me out with some $$$ to buy some software/courses etc for my future exploits and have so far amassed $00.00 :wtf:

It's a funny old world we live in! :f_ugly:

Have a good day amigos! I am just nipping out to buy myself a straight jacket... :f_drink:

I did not play on Wednesday night. My head was too frazzled even for a chill out session!

Yesterday I was home a bit earlier than usual as I was at the dentists in the afternoon so I played a few hands...

I notice my sessions are not starting so well these days but I am not 100% focused imo so I think that is why.

I also made a couple of call downs which were probably a bit too GTO but at these games I could exploit overfold river. Don't really mind about that too much if my reasoning is good and I learn something.

So session started badly and then everything ran pretty smoothly again thereafter. In general things go up up up!!! :f_drink:

Have a good weekend amigos! :f_love:

Hahahahahahaha!!!!!

FML...

Fun session waiting for kids to get back from activities!

Don't look at redline please...

Might play tonight which would be my first Saturday evening session for a couple of years... Any fishes out there for me!!!!!?????

I will probably be in the pool. Do you want me to just stars transfer my BR to you, so you don't have to pay rake on the winnings?

Lol, in my dreams amigo!

---

I decided to stop folding... :roto2:

Resulted in swingy blue line and steady (winning) redline!

Way more fun than folding all the time - you get to see what they had. :wtf:

Generally the nuts of course! (Talking about how they play NOT how I run btw)

Oh I also bluffed into the nuts a couple of times when I thought they were capped! :nh:

---

Yet again it has come to my attention how bad I am at taking in information. I was taught quite a few new things at Wing Chun last night and within seconds I had retained somewhere around 1% of the information. Maybe less!!! :truestory:

So (in all things) I am trying to find ways to learn that are better tailored to my erm, erm, erm... Inadequacies!!!

Still got no cash. Gonna use poker roll next (yes, before "investing in real estate" roll). Anybody care to stake me??? :f_drink:

Don't want to be accused of NOT posting losing graphs!!!

Whiff, whiff, whiff. Honest! ;)

P.S. Got a little bit of cash!!!

Another fun session!

Probably spewed one off trying to make a fish fold, other than that my station calls turned out pretty well last night!!!!! :f_drink:

Wish I could play a bit more lately, seem to be running well.

Maybe I am getting a bit better at last!!!!!??????? Oh come on... Just a tiny bit!?

The title of the thread alone shows that the OP has gotten sucked right into this trap called poker. "Hard work"? Poker isn't about hard work. If you wanted to work hard, you'd do so. Sitting at the computer and playing cards isn't hard work, no matter how boring the game at hand may be. Believe me, I'd rather drag my genitals through a mile of glass than sit through another session. That doesn't make it hard work, it just means that the game sucks.

If you read your own thoughts throughout this thread, you'll see that no normal, functioning person who is paying the bills and having something to do with the opposite sex has any room or energy left for poker. Not to mention that once we're adults, the only people who are still easy enough to please to stay interested in the game are gambling degenerates. They're not "working hard". They're feeding an addiction. There's absolutely nothing productive about poker.

My advice: Just stop playing and watch how much happier you'll be. Watch how much more you'll get done when it comes to things that actually matter. Let's face it: When we look at the people who are most successful in the world of poker - nobody in their right mind would envy them. They're all strange, socially awkward, boring people. They would have to be in order to spend that much time on such a solitary, simple, random game while in their 20's and beyond. Most adults with an IQ over 80 and an ounce of motivation wouldn't be able to stomach one one hour session of poker. It's a miserable activity.

Look at Chess. Chess is infinitely more popular than poker, is infinitely more strategically rich, and still only the outcasts of society have any interest in it. It's an outdated, pointless activity. Here in almost 2018, so is poker.

Really fun session last night!

Felt like I played really well, best ever in fact!

I did do a few bluffs which are probably spew but this is not a bad thing for me as I used to think bluffing was illegal!!!!!!

All my 4b bluffs whiffed and got raised or called which hurts in a small sample so overall I am really happy with my play...

Looking forward to this weekend...

Tomorrow afternoon I am going out for a few beers with mates and watching some footie.

On Sunday we (family) are driving up to see my brother, have a meal with our mum for her birthday AND watch the Christmas lights get switched on in his town. Kids will LOVE that and I think I will too!!!

Shame it will be spoiled by having to work Saturday morning but once the clock strikes 12.00 it will be fun fun fun!!!

Have a great weekend amigos!

Hey! I don't want to shock you (while you are sitting there in your bedroom) but out here in the real world some people are even "having something to do" with people of the SAME sex!

Thanks for your advice. I am so grateful you managed to find the time to help me out. I only wish this world had more people like you who are so caring and willing to give advice for FREE!

Still running good!!! :sifflote:

I am not getting many hands in lately (as I have got so much going on) but practically every time I play I feel that I get better!

The recent results are really good but of course it is so hard to take anything from results over small samples.

However, the fact that I am feeling really comfortable at the tables is a good indicator of at least some progress imo.

217 minutes til pub time... :f_drink: :f_drink: :f_drink: :f_drink: :f_drink:

I must say, I see what TakingAShot means I think. I am not sure of course but if I relate his advice to my life. I made the choice to quit poker for the time being and I am just as happy as before. I tried to make it in this game as I told in my blog but couldn't. Now I am focussing on something else and perhaps in a few years I do something else. Maybe TakingAShot sees your struggles and sees how much time and effort you put everytime in the game. Your philosophy is working hard is the way to success I guess? If you look truly to the inside and ask this question; If I could achieve anything I want with working hard but with the right balance of quality time, would I go for this instead of working hard and sometimes the means justify the end and give up the quality time?

I'm not saying TakingAShot is right but somehow his text triggered me to answer here :) I once heard that even Bill Gates is playing Golf every Wednesday afternoon just to relax and clear his mindset, which could very well be in addition to the weekend (or a day in total). Most probably more Billionaires do these kind of things as well. I don't know, I more and more start to appreciate the quality time since I see little more results in just having none and only work from 7 am till 11 pm and go to sleep and do it all over again :)

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Hesticus :f_drink:

Poker is hard. Poker is cruel. The volatility plays tricks on your brain. This is why it is profitable. I am now convinced the majority of your WR comes from not going insane when running bad. I can relate to waht TakingAshot is saying, not because I agree with his words, but because I have rage quit poker with the same feelings I imagine TakingAShot is having. Poker requires a lot of time to get good at, and a lot time to get your win rate to converge. I think this is a big reason why people quit, retire, or go busto.

The more I play the more I realize that poker is like an ocean. It is the sum of large choatic systems that don't care that you have been running bad all month. All you can do is ride the waves, hold on and hope for the best. It requires a lot of time, but so does getting good at anything. You just don't get any sort of useful feedback until much later.

Telling someone to quit Poker because it is hard, and requires a lot of time is like telling a swimmer to give up on the olympics because it's hard. If you like it and it isn't ruining your life, who cares.

I had a really, really good weekend...

After work on Saturday morning I went straight to the pub (for 7 hours whoops) to have a "few" beers for my mate's birthday. :f_drink:

Nearly got into a brawl when some Scouse lads started giving my Scottish mate some stick but soon sorted that out! :challenge:

On Sunday, feeling somewhat delicate, we drove up to my brother in Newark and had a meal for our mum's birthday and then went to watch their Christmas Lights switch on. Had a great day out and the kids loved it... Fireworks and rides FTW!!!

HOWEVER!!!

I need to be careful... That was 3 nights of drinking! Only one was "heavy" but I know all too well how easy it is for me to fall back into the trap of drinking daily!

Some of the problem for me at the moment is that work is so bad that I am finding it all too easy to "have a drink to relax". Fortunately I have not had a drink on a work night though so hopefully it is all in check!

Just something to watch out for!

Especially as I need to focus on preparing for if the worst does happen at work...

So... Not much poker over the weekend either. ;(

Last night I played a few hands...

I flopped a straight early on when I 3b SB v BTN (JTss on KhQh9c) but it ran out to have 4 hearts on board so had to XC turn XF river. :nh:

Flopped another straight soon after BB v SB with A4o on 532ddx and we got it all in on the flop... he had AQdd and I won the first run out but he won the second! :censored:

Soon after I got-it all in pre BB v CO with QQ versus AKo and for the first time in ages I didn't look at the board!!!

Managed to hold that one though and then things ran smoothly thereafter to book another 2 buy in win! :sifflote:

The heat is good lately!!! :sfishy:
