Hello, villain is 33/21 after 40 hands so difficult to get any reads from stats.

Preflop I 3bet bluff. In my 3bet bluff range I have suited connectors and suited Aces most of the time.
Flop. I flop second pair and 2 backdoors. My plan in situations like this is to barrel for protection against draws. OTT barrel again if improved. If not then check back and try to get to showdown with showdown value or bluffcatch blank river cards.
OTT. Improved to OESD and FD now. Dont know what to do against a donk. I was prepared to shoot again. But it certainly seems he hit something. I would fold on any other card (maybe not to 6h) but on Th I decided to shove it in order to put pressure on two pairs or Kx hands.

I guess LAG or maybe he calling station and he never fold until he won't see the river lap. Turn you have a good cards and againts lag or cs player better play just call. And i think you lot of difficult sitution post flop suited connectors in 3bet pot.

As the hand sample is too small and you do not have notes or reads, you have to treat this villain as unknown.
I suggest you to work on your ranges as the SCs are not a good choice for 3b bluff. They are good to call and play IP.

On this limit people don´t fold to much, so i think is pretty hard to make him fold 2pairs.
I will just call on the Turn, i have a nice draw + i´m in position.

I never would 3 bet there with that hand. It's such a beautiful hand in that spot to play poker (I agree with nitrol here)!

When you bluff 3 bet have blockers to AK AQ ... so Ax off or Kx

My 2 cents here, maybe someone disagrees.

Hold your horses guys, so much hate of my 3bet :f_biggrin: I believe (let a coach be judge of that) that suited connectors are actually one of the most suitable hands for a 3bet bluff, especially in position. Let me explain my thought process:

@nitrol: I am almost offended. It is like you suggest that I play without giving it one thought :f_eek: No, now seriously :f_biggrin: I have worked on my 3bet ranges and I dont 3bet just because I feel like it. As I am not an experienced player I based my ranges on a PSGY article. I dont think that I am good enough to create my own ranges. The article specifically states that the best hands for a deceptive 3bet are small pockets, suited aces and suited connectors. In general: hands that are not dominated, but which have a monster potential. AXs is dominated but has a monster potential so it is discussable.

@RubbyDubby: how do you decide what Ax or Kx to 3bet as a bluff? I mean, a range of A2-A9 and K2-K9 represents almost 20% range. Is your 3bet range 20% or even more when we count 3betting for value? Yes, you have blockers but in many cases you will be dominated and flop a weak A or K. My 3bet bluff range is 5,5% which is ok for NL2 I think. And it will not be dominated most of the time.

@AgapieGheorghe: Yep. That is what I dont know. I guess you are right that making someone fold 2 pairs on NL2 is a heroic performance. But calling seemed to me as too weak and transparent. I am kinda lost on the turn :f_rolleyes:

You gain info on your player but it cost you a stack. Use this info and take him to value town next hand lower your hands strenght for a stack of with him obviously never bluf him. I do not think he would fold his 2nd pair even if he blaked the river against your 2nd bullet.

The main rule for constructing your 3b bluff range is to use the first hands that get out of your calling range.
SCs are good calling hands.

Hi, I think 89 suited is too good of a hand there to turn into a bluff and not good enough for a value raise.

3 bet bluffing has nothing to do with being dominated. It's a bluff as a reaction to a button steal or a loose opener.
I decide my 3 bet bluffs on the reads I have on my opponent (that he's stealing or opening loose, folds too much to 3 bets etc).
In that case the blocker makes sense because it's more unlikely for him to have strong hands so the chance of him folding gets bigger.

Remember its a bluff. If he calls you're kindof screwed anyways :).

But maybe it's only a matter of 'poker style' as KatalonaX sais.

Maybe you are right guys. I have dug a little deeper into 3bet ranges tonight and realized that I have made one basic mistake. I used a general rule for a specific situation. Suited connectors might be good for a 3bet bluff but only in some situation like blinds vs MP or UTG. I checked w34z3ls ranges for 3betting BB vs SB and there are no suited connectors nor suited aces. 98s is just too strong in this situation to 3bet I guess. Weazel puts it in a cold call range. He suggests some Kx and Ax (just as you say) even along with some suited one gappers, queens or jacks for a 3bet bluff.

Thank you for making me realize my mistake. I will work one my ranges more (it needs a lot of work). I still would like some coach to express his opinion though :f_cool:
