Hi, I think until the river it is standard play. On the river I decided to check/call, as I`ll give him the chance to bet with some bluffs here. Do you think it is ok played this way?

I would do the same.
Just wondering, would you do anything different if the river was a :diamond: ?

I`m not sure, I`ll either bet 40% or I`ll play it this way. I`m not absolutely sure. What would you do?

I was thinking If river was :diamond: (which I guess both were not expecting it from the flop), I guess he would check behind and bluff less, so I would still bet 40% trying to catch a last value.

Btw, what was his hand ? J9 ? AT or T-trash suited ?

I would shove the river to get value from AJ,KJ,J9,KQ,AT,AQ,Q9.. cause he can easily check back those hands. Don't see that many bluffs in his range or hands which he is going to bluff bet OTR. Often the Ax FDs he is checking back.
Any reads on villain?

He will not call a shove with those hands... At least not with all of them.

Sicne he cold call 3bet preflop, I expect that he is a fishy player most of the time (in some cases can be a reg). So he would call with all Qx hands and also with some Jx hands.
Against good reg who is capable to fold those hands I would rather go for check/call (against nit it can be a check/fold in some cases).

I would bet the river 30% and fold to a raise.
When he ships you have a bluff catcher.
When you say you check for him to bluff, what bluffs actually get to the river here that would ship? A backdoor Axd is all I can think of. 10x Ds.
He'll check back AJ AQ KQ JK.
We're vs nuts or air and dispite having the best bluff catcher going (we block AK which is the worry) I think we're rarely ahead in this spot.
So unless you have reads I'd be folding here.

Everything seems standard till river. OTR check-fold is best, every bet will commit us. T8?

I would also x/fold OTR. You decided to x/call to give him an oportunity to bluff.. well.. so you don't beat ANY part of his valuebetting range and are just bluffcatching on a street that is underbluffed, so I assume he doesn't have enough bluffs to begin with. To me it doesn't sound like a good plan.

Agree.
But still I think against some type fishes it can be more profitable to shove, but it's questionable. 30% bet seems fine in most cases.
