oop i probably do not flat 3bet. If you do decide to flat than is x/r flop is second best option, best option is indeed to flat a c-bet. Fold is the worst decision.

Flop x/r isolates you against strong range. I suggest you to try Equilab and do the following:
1. Put Villains preflop 3bet range;
2. Discard some combos which Villain wouldn't cbet;
3. Look against what hand combos you get value from;
4. Understand that you don't have 50% equity against Villains continuation range (so, no soup for you);
5. Stop bluffing with TPTK ♦

I was thinking this too until I read pokerbook Easy game. He explained that there are 3 reasons to bet or raise, all of them because of value.
1. We bet for value because we have the best hand
2. We bet for value because we dont have the beat hand but we can get the pot down, value of money put.
3. We bet for value without knowing we have the best hand or not but we just can take the pot down. One of the examles was when you open with KJ in lp en get called from blinds. Flop is Ace high and we cbet. Why? Just because we know we just can take the pot down, value of the pot. We might have the best hand or we might let him fold better hand or we do noy put us in bad position when he leads on turn when we check down.
Situation above. Doenst this apply to reason 3 because there are millions bad tutn cards which gonna put us in bad perspective oop?? In position it is always a flat.

Value bet - is when you bet a hand which has 50% equity against opponent's continuation range.

In this case your x/r is only ahead of Villain's betting range, but not his continuation range, therefore you turn your TP into a bluff.

Be careful, that book is way outdated. If you want to understand actual reasons for betting I recommand Janda's "No limit hold'em for advanced players" rather.

And your reason 2 looks like a bluff, so calling it "for value" can be misleading. In a way yeah fold equity is still "value "but come on...

For the hand example no it doesn't apply anyway, the point isn't to get away from though spots. And you should realize that if you try to avoid those already with TPTK how hard they'll be for the rest of your range lol. On the contrary it's important to call with a mix of TP and draws here ! Thus turn cards won't be that hard to deal with, except it's 3bet pot OOP for you, you have to play it that's poker.
