It's pretty natural that moving up in stake is bit scary and I would say it's good thing also in a way if it feels like that. Because then at least using too risky BRM is not issue. In BRM it's always better to be too passive than too aggro imo. Also when moving to bigger games swings will become bigger money wise and that could be also challenge of it own for mental side.

One style I tend to recommend in sng side is to mix your buyins. So if you play e.g. 3 tables you can first take one table from bigger game and thus keep swings and BRM requirements bit smaller. It's not necessary to move all tables at once.

Scared of moving up is quite common, I know the feeling as I have had the same problem once. I was afraid that if I lose, then my precious money is gone.

EXACTLY!! EXACTLY!!! This! One thousand times THIS!!

That 30bin shot rule BRM helped me, as I knew how much I have available for the higher stake, and I knew I couldn't go broke. To make money, you have to use money.
You have a cheat day, where you kinda take shots at higher MTT's. Use the same idea for PLO, everything over xxx amount is for the next stakes during the cheat day.

Finally somebody understands! :f_drink::f_drink:

This is a great idea!

Yes, to make money, you have to invest money. I will take exactly like this a certain amount with a stop-loss-limit. Taking shots with stop-loss. I can handle that!

I will use the cheat-days like a really pure recreational player: Take xx $ per week/month, if this is gone, then it´s gone, so what? I won´t use my precious BR for that. I will deposit a certain amount for cheat-days, let´s say 50 € per week. I play with those, if those are gone, well then so be it ..... If I make more out of it, I´ll keep that and take the next 50 € from there. I will treat the cheat-days like a :f_ugly:.

I separate BR (my BR is now there and I play with it) and cheat-money. :f_drink:

So: For birthday I recieved 100 $ "cheat-money". 50 $ of those I will use on the next cheat-day for whatever I like: CG, PLO, MTT......or maybe all. :f_thumbsup:

Sorry, can give only one like, but would like to give 10.000 thumbs up!

Also a very good, input, thank you very much, ghale!:heart:

EXACTLY!! Again: Finally somebody understands!!!

I think "moving up" on cheat-days will do the trick. Taking shots with money, I can easily loose without any pain but: outside of my BR. Just like a rec.

Taking shots which come NOT from my precious BR (for which I worked soooo hard) is the solution!!! If I loose the cheat-money: So be it!

Yes, I cashed 200 $ out but not because I´m so scared, but in order to transfer it, probably on 888. Took it from my Stars-BR and it´s waiting to be put on a cool room, where CG is fishy :f_ugly:

Ghale, for you too: I can only give one "like" but would like to give 10.000!

Finally! PLO day! But what should I play?

Enjoyed my PLO-session today even though didn´t know what to play cause was very very card-dead. There are lot of nice combos in PLO but also tons of trash-combos. So, was mostly folding, preflop of had to fold flop because it sucked. Had nothing really to get it in on flop.

Here I had something to get it in but nobody called:

iPoker - €0.10 PL Hi (6 max) - Omaha Hi - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

SB: 261.5 BB (VPIP: 53.85, PFR: 7.69, 3Bet Preflop: 7.14, Hands: 39)
BB: 101.8 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: -, Hands: 1)
Hero (UTG): 116.3 BB
CO: 89.5 BB (VPIP: 33.72, PFR: 15.12, 3Bet Preflop: 4.17, Hands: 86)
BTN: 60.4 BB (VPIP: 83.33, PFR: 11.11, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 18)

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has Q♣ Q♦ K♠ J♠

Hero raises to 3.5 BB, CO calls 3.5 BB, BTN calls 3.5 BB, SB calls 3 BB, fold

Flop: (15 BB, 4 players) 3♦ 5♠ Q♥
SB checks, Hero bets 10.5 BB, CO calls 10.5 BB, fold, fold

Turn: (36 BB, 2 players) 8♠
Hero bets 36 BB, fold

Hero mucks Q♣ Q♦ K♠ J♠ (Three of a Kind, Queens)

Hero wins 33.6 BB

The outcome is actually 2 stacks down but got rakeback on Titan. :sifflote:

I know Nsavov will scold me for playing on iPoker but iPoker has the softest PLO games I ever seen. I tried a mini-shot at PLO10 and I have to say I did pretty well. Even though I couldn´t double my stack but Villains are still very fishy, limping pre, overplaying AJxx, AKxx, JJxx, QQxx, overplaying 2-pair on flop...etc. So still Villains who actually play Holdem which is very good and very profitable. Found a lot of Villains who didn´t even know the PLO basics ........ but had no cards to take their stacks....booooooo! _cry:

Hey prim, first time poster here!

I don't know a thing about PLO (or any other type of poker xD ) but I never went broke. I do play sngs and I do use a BRM system like ghaleon described. Imagine I play $1, 4 tables. When I try to move up I always play 3 tables from my current BI and 1 from the BI I want to move to.

Then when BR grows a little more, another table moves so it's 2/2 and so on. In your case if you 4 table PLO10 maybe you could play 3xPLO10 and 1xPLO25. You get a feel of the limit above and only with a $3,75 average BI increase.

GL!!

I doubt potting turn make much sense in that QQKJ hand. I mean when we block top pair heavily villain rarely has strong two pairs and probably same for set as those might just raise flop. Sure turn open draws but when we have K high flush draw I think we want to bet bit smaller to keep wider range in the pot? But yeah maybe they call versus pot as well with some straight draws?

Yeah potting turn seems weird to me but I'm quite clueless at PLO.

Hey bookai,
that´s what I did today. I play PLO2-PLO5 and took one table PLO10 just to try it out. In MTTs I use to play one table a little above my BRM. For shots which are way above my BRM (like 11 $ MTTs) I will use my cheat-day and some extra money which I call my "play money". :f_thumbsup:

Perfectly equipped for PLO

Got my new glasses now. So no more "ghost straights" (Str8s I see which aren´t there), can see the four cards clearly and now ready to watch the zilions of outs, draws and redraws! :f_thumbsup:

Do they have glasses so I don't misread the hands?

Yes! In my case it turned out that I´m not only short-sigthened but now comes also the long-sightedness :f_o:. I play with a 4 color deck already but sometimes I misread a 4 for an ace or once on Partypoker I thought a have the nutflush, there were 3 diamonds on the board but in fact I had A♥ 5♥. :f_ugly: Fortunately it was a cheap MTT :f_ugly:

Or when I got tired I had to look 3 times on the board and my hole cards in PLO - do I REALLY have the str8? :f_ugly:

@Prim If on Win7/8/10 There is also a pre built magnifying glass with even high zoom. search bar and type zoom or magnify can't recall. It will make your life easier even without glasses. Or on a search engine type win magnifying glass to see how to do.

Best of Skills & Luck @ Tables.

Wow, that was fun!!

Played CG and MTTs, PLO and PLO8. Could make it ITM in the 1.10 $ PLO8 100$ Gtd. on Party and placed 9th. 1.10 $ PLO 150 $ Gtd.: card-dead, meeeh!

CG was fun as well, played PLO4, PLO5 and PLO10. In PLO10 on Titan I was battling a Villain HU and that was super-fun! Then got tired, too bad. _cry: But took half of his stack.

Played a 4.40 $ PLO-MTT on Stars but busted shortly before ITM: card-dead. _frown:

Because Party doesn´t have any more decent MTTs, or at least not many, I cashed out 200 €. So, now: 400 € BR are hanging in the air, waiting to be deposited and played with .......... but WHERE???

Titan and 888 are super fishy in PLO, guess will deposit there, probably half-half? Or anyone knows a good fishy room for PLO and PLO8?

Leaving Partypoker .....

Yeah, sad decision, but I don´t know anymore what to play there ..... maybe 1 PLO-table (CG) and maybe 1 MTT I like every 2 hours .....

That doesn´t make sense, guys..... that just doesn´t make sense.... I´m mourning my beloved Bounty Hunters, Power Turbos, Morning- and Early Editions, the low buy-in MTTs...... There´s not much left for me to play _cry:

Anyways, in PLO there´s one room where I´m gonna play for sure: Titan Poker! High rake but super-soft and mega-fishy!

888 is another candidate for PLO-CG but not sure yet ...... input, ideas, advices very welcome!

There´s 400 € BR "taking a break" and waiting to be played with ..... _evil:_cool:

Have more BR like 650 € or so, but those 400 € are at the moment "on ice".
