PokerStars - 15/30 Ante 4 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

Hero (MP): 45.23 BB
CO: 52.8 BB (VPIP: 18.64, PFR: 14.55, 3Bet Preflop: 6.25, Hands: 60)

UTG: 39.03 BB (VPIP: 29.81, PFR: 8.49, 3Bet Preflop: 8.05, Hands: 1,389)

6 players post ante of 0.13 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.3 BB) Hero has Q♠ K♦

fold, Hero raises to 3 BB, CO calls 3 BB, fold, fold, fold

Flop: (8.3 BB, 2 players) 4♦ A♦ 6♦
Hero bets 4.17 BB, CO raises to 10 BB, fold,

He seems a good player at least for the 60 hands that i have, but i didn't made any note about him. I think i should call his raise, i block most of his flush combos so that should be a reason to call but on the other way i'm not sure if i have the right odds to call and playing oop i have to fold turn if he bets and i don't hit another diamond.

Cumps ;)

This seems to weak to fold the nut flush draw after his small raise.
Another option is to just check to keep the pot small and call a bet with your draw.
This way you keep the pot small.

If you are folding one card nut flush draw to a flop raise you shouldn't bet it in first place. It's too strong of a hand to just bet fold

jup viki. If you bet you have to be able to ho with it or fold. For either of these option our hand is not suited for. Process of elimination. ;)

So after he raised you, pot is what 22.5BB? And you gotta call 6BB, that's almost 4:1 pot odds there, so you need like what? 20% equity?
Gotta call for that price :f_drink:

you forgot the rest of the stacks. If you call the raise you are committed to the pot.

Why would you be committed to pot with flop call? You have over pot size behind on turn if calling so folding blank turn is fine. Problem with call in this spot is if you have implied odds. You need like 21% equity to call and with 9 outs its very close even without implied odds. So yeah folding is likely worst option. Sometimes we might also get free river as well.

Other option is to just 3bet flop which I would do. Villain seems decent from stats so he might not have 44, 66 or two pairs in his range. We also block some flushes and AK, AQ so this is like perfect 3bet bluff hand. Maybe villain always has Ax+ here and never fold it. Well then our value range will make lot of profit and with this one we will still have over 30% equity. Not bad deal imo. Its also spot where you probably want to play some sets, 2 pairs or maybe smaller flushes quickly to not get into awkward spots if fourth diamond pops up.

you dont think we are committed with one psb behind? If he bets on the turn how much do you think its correct to fold? Even with a psb you got 33% equity. Imo most things are incorrect to fold then. We prevent this in playing a smaller pot.

Yes you are right that this hand could be a candidate to 3 bet bluff but imo on this stakes players the dont tend to fold an ace the raised with. There is little to no fe cause we only will be called if they got substancial equity. You dont have to create lager pots especially oop. Ask yourself what hands to we target to get value if we hit. ( I know ghale you are doing stuff like that and I am a big fan of it and try to get better in this matter) We will get value if we hit from from inferior fd and ak, aq, maybe AJ, AT. We unblock potential FD because we have ourselfs one. According to that if he hit big we will get enough action anyway so why boosting variance in creating unnessesarily a large pot without a made hand? If we 3 bet folding is out of the question If he gets it in. If we play passive oop we can play a 2 streets game and get either a
free card or/and a wider range to exploit. Let him continue with his inferior hands gets more likely to get his chips in with less risk. We cant be get drawn out much besides set that develops into a FH.

Happy to read your thought on this matter.

Problem of checking tend to be that then you wont have solid semibluff hands in barreling range. I would be pretty happy to bet flop and most turns and sometimes shoving river to put hands like mediocre or good Ax in tough spot. E.g. if you are villain here with AQ how happily are you calling down versus three bets and facing shove in river? Assuming you are versus sensible looking opponent. Well AxQd would be best AQ to calldown, others less good.

Also if you check flop you will likely have bit tougher time to get hands like 88 to fold whereas those might fold in flop to small cbet. Or if you check and villain bets pot its actually bit awkward to continue as calling just to draw is likely -EV at that point.

PS: Problem with this sort of single card flush draw is that its also very obvious draw. So implied odds tend to be less as reasonable player might progress carefully even with Qd. Like if we check-call flop or bet-call and hit flush decent player will quite likely check that second nut to call river. Now this might not apply to micro games player pool but this villain at least seems decently ok from stats and hero reads.

I can follow your arguments and they seem to plausible to me. The question I would like to ask is do you think a reg on these stakes can exploit us? Imo regs on these stakes dont have the ability to think about if our range postflop is polarised or not . We can easily have little to no semi bluff range here. If we semi bluff we will do this with hands that got no sd value. How much hands are these in reality? Imo from mp3 this dempend on the table this are mostly suited connectors like 76s+. All other one card FD have too much equity. You are totally right if we were deeper but in a stt we dont have maybe enough chips. This is why I would delayed cbet this. We have to fold out the pp and livecards I totally agree.

You talk about KQ showdown value but we are HJ vs CO and OOP. Its going to be very tough to try to play KQ for its showdown value in this situation. If we were in BUvsBB or similar then checkback from position for hand showdown value would be way more solid argument. In that spot we could easily use hand as bluff catcher with nice equity. But in this spot versus lot stronger range and OOP this plan is likely to fail. Also you suggest going for delayed cbet on turn which seems bit contradicting for showdown value argument on flop. Personally in this spot I would not consider hand to have enough value to aim for showdown. If we had like TT-KK we would have lot of showdown value and not too much to protect against and checking would be more reasonable.

What is your plan if flop goes checked, turn is blank, you delayed cbet, get called and river is blank?

Missed this question earlier. If we assume that when villain bets turn he almost always has it which is likely then we can only count 9 outs with our flush draw. 9 outs will give roughly 20% equity and versus pot size we need 33% Seems like really -EV spot to me at that point. Even if we get turn like Ts that gives us 3 extra outs most of time our equity would be too low for even cEV call. Seems to me like we have quite clear fold at that point?

Looks like I owe you some answers. ;)

I would check river and let it go or call pretty small bet. I think that the river bluff frequency at the low or micro stakes are pretty low. There are some nice videos from lemon to this matter at the last episodes from la tour de stakes. He reviewed the with hand to note some statistics and I think that some of that fit here too. btw I would love to test this but you need a premium version for it. Nevertheless if he is correct which I think he is due to his samplesize than the river bluff frequency is this low at those stakes that you can safely assume that river ranges are this polarised that If he bet he has us beat. If he dont bet we may realize or sd equity. My Idea with this hand is to loose as less money as possible when I dont improve and have the opportunity to win the pot sometimes. I think this is necessiary to compensate all of our implieds in the long run.

Well I would count 10 outs OTF because of our bdsd but you are correct its just a fold. If you count in the bf or riskp its anyway a fold.
