[Closed] I'm sick of losing. Starting from scratch.

I seem very mistake prone today. Going to read some articals and watch some videos!
I'm sick of losing and need to learn more.

Down $40 as of today. Bankroll is at $270.

Argh this sucks. Down $60 overall.
Get pocket aces, somebody beats me with KJo. Get kings, someone beats me with QT. Get trips, and someone gets a four card straight.

This is going downhill quickly. Help?

Stoping to play for a while is the best you can do atm. Also post some hands.

Roulette again. I got myself up to a suitable point so I can play NL0.05/0.10 then deleted the roulette software.

My suggestion....

stop looking at your bankroll as your meter for success, lose the I want to make $10,000 thing and make it, I want to beat NL at XX level making a consistent XBB/100 over X amount of hands.

That way if you reach each individual goal, the 10k will come with time anyway.... Money maybe a part of poker, but to be honest it's the only part you don't need to worry about, as soon as you start playing well enough and making less errors the money will accumulate anyway.

So stop using your money as a benchmark and set more performance based goals (imo).

I recommend you read my blog, it may seem like Im boasting my success sometimes(I do that for motivation and to keep record), but its aimed to help readers with similar problems so they may overcome them. What worked for me may work for you.

And MrMardyBum, that's actually good advise I think. I try and set my goal to win one buy in per table per day. Sometimes I win three buy in's on one table, sometimes I win none, other times I lose 5 buy in's.

I think I may just spend some time in some freeroll tourney's for now until the cards start running hot.

I just played a quick session. I think that's the best way I should go about this, no more 10 hour sessions, no more waking up at 7am and playing until 11pm.

I played two hours, the result was a (small) positive sign next to some green figures.

I would'nt consider the downswing over, but I've gained confidence in my play.

You seriously need to read some articles again.

You could extract way more money from this hand by simply betting close to pot size on flop and turn. The river is too late, since he missed his draw already. Also he can easily suckout on u with those small bets.

Edit: Playing long hours doesnt work for me, I play 2 hours tops, usually less like 1:30hr

Hi Sean,

I think MrMardyBum made a nice post and I agree with it, before making goals towards money you should make sure you work on your game and always try to improve, don't worry if you lose some one day coz theres always tomorrow. Just make sure you stick to BRM to limit your losses.

PokerQT, thanks for the input. I'm using PS's BRM right now, I just moved down a limit as I have 23 buy in's for the limit I was playing on.

I just won a nice/weird hand too.
Some guy basically fell in love with all his hands. He was a maniac, and had a large stack so he used that to bully his opponents.

Anyway, he min-raised under the gun, I three bet with my AKo on the button. He min-raised, I called.

Flop came down something like 862, completely missed. He bets a third of the pot, I call.

Turn came a ten, still missed. He bets enough to put me all in, which was 100BB's into a 30bb pot. Nice play, fish.

I actually called. Turned out to be the right play too. He had high card king, I had high card ace (an absolute monster.. not).

Currently playing NL25 and PLO25 at partypoker. Doing well! Should be getting silver status in the next couple of days too.
