Top pair on a paired board -- flop play?

You could check behind preflop to keep his J3 and Q6 in.
Best play is to bet and get this monkey of your back so can proceed when ur obviously interested in seeing more information with the 3 board cards.
What are you trying to accomplish by fighting a player who has no other option but to play the way he does.

Preflop you can check behind or fold to the reraise. I would prefer folding to a reraise. Going to the flop without initiative makes this a play in the dark.
He reps AA or KK playing this way. I wouldnt like to call off my whole stack to find out.

really easy fold pre. if you feel he's wide enough (and he does need to be really wide for you to call this preflop), then you should just assume that your pair is good often enough at this point.

I had thought that if villain played a normal wide BU range that I could raise QJ over a limper.

OTF I raised and got a fold, so I have no idea what he was doing this with.

Agreed it's just a fold pre but as played we should be calling at least one street with tpgk imo.

Limped pot, don't hate the call vs SB limp raising, flop I agree with Red.

Raise/fold preflop and write note. If he did it again, I would tighten the rasing range and reduce the sizing on 3x, if it caused me problems I would leave and find a more passive fish.

EDIT: with a blocker hand, 4bet could be considered after that, but its sizing is quite large.

Not sure if raising OTF is a good idea.
Reasons for a raise would be:
1. For value, you think that villain might call with a worse hand
2. Bluff, you want villain to fold a better hand

I think none of these conditions are met.
Regarding for value: Villain will probably not call a raise with a small pocket, maybe not even with QT-Q2, but these hands are unlikely anyway.
Regarding for bluff: I do not think villain would fold QQ+, AQ, KQ, 7x

I am not sure that this assessment is correct. Would like to hear other opinions.
