That's some pretty nice going, considering that we once started at 20 cents. ![]()
Impressive stuff. Congrats on the bink too.
Yup -- it is very gratifying
If you check out my blog post from a few days ago, you can see elements of self-doubt sneaking into my mindset.

I have been playing PLO8 cash at $0.01/$0.02, $0.02/$0.05 & $0.05/$0.10 over the past week as I try to clear a $10 bonus I purchased with my "Gold Tokens"
Not going well. I have so far lost a bit more than the $10 I'm trying to clear, and I may not even be able to ever clear it, since 888's bonus policy is incomprehensible.
However today I entered another freeroll and managed to earn a $5.00 ticket, which I'll play later this week.
The tournament pays 200 $5.00 tickets, so you need to really hang in there and not risk your entire stack if you can conceivably "coast" into the money.[1]
Whew! That was close!
At this point, there are 2 players left to the tickets...

I just completed Day 1 of the $30K 888Summit Freeroll, with about 2/3 average stack.
This is considerably better that I did last week, but I managed to cash Day 2 anyway.
Day 2 runs Sunday.
I have been slaughtered this week playing PLO8 cash at $0.01/$0.02, $0.02/$0.5 and $0.05/$0.10
Just nothing I could seem to do to get people to fold their crappy draws, and of course, nothing I could do to get them to not hit them.
So I guess I'm back rebuilding...
Spoiler

I got to thinking (always a dangerous move) that maybe I was playing totally badly.
So I logged into a site I used to play on a lot, and played some $0.05/$0.10 PLO8 just as a test.
In 40 hands I was up 2 BI
Same sort of behaviour, players that chase draws to the river -- only this time they missed frequently enough.
Have a great weekend...

Thank you!
I played about an hour of PLO8 $0.05/$0.10 and got some good cards and some good runouts, and some good opponents (they fold a lot post-flop) so we recovered 1 BI of the seven we lost last week.
That's a nice-looking uptick at the end of the graph

Playing cash games is tough.
I've been up and down a lot this week.
For some reason, I got an email that said I could spin for "up to" 150% cashback from yesterday's session.

This amounted to $0.40 -- so $8 rake in one day?
I was surprised, actually so I checked with PT4 and it shows $8.40
I've never paid much attention to rake before, but maybe I should have?

I played some NL 10 Fast-Fold today, and got brutalized.
QQ < AA
JJ < AA
AA < 74o who flopped two pair.
in the end down 6 BI.

Ouch that's a pretty brutal run, i really struggle in that format as well albeit a small sample over the years but i seem to get destroyed every time i try and play those games.
Yeah, it was pretty grim.
It would not have been so bad if I had followed my own advice ...

Ye all very good solid advise now just post it to yourself ![]()
The general rule of thumb is to be the opposite.
vs passive players, bet your big hands, and get the hell out of Dodge when they play back at you.
vs aggro players, let them bet into you (assuming you have a made hand or strong draw)
vs tight players, open up your range a bit
vs loose players tighten up a bit.
I have several rules that nightbot posts on my stream.
!rule#1 Don't chase!
!rule#2 Fold yer crap!
!rule#3 No stupid river calls!
!rule#4 don't break pat hands unnecessarily
#4 doesn't really apply to NLHE, but I'm guilty as charged on the other three during that session.
I had selected a number of hands for review, but my mistakes were painfully obvious, and tbh I would be ashamed to post them ♠_cry:
Today my JJ held vs AK, my set mining hit a rich ore vein, and once I had a big stack, my fold equity went sky-high

I'm wondering if perhaps PLO8 cash is perhaps a bit hi-variance for the purpose of building a bankroll.
Problem is, at least as far as cash games go, it is the one I know best.
Even so, we're clawing our way back up...
