Villain is probably one of the better regs on Stars I would say. Obviously my sample isn't too big yet but he's doing fine and his play usually looks reasonable to me. He is very loose when I'm in the blinds since I'm actually a tight defender. During yesterdays session I tried to defend a little wider although I'm not sure if this hand makes into that range generally.
Given I'm tight raising this board makes absolutely no sense. He will know what's up once I do it. So I call and pretend to be drawing or having a mediocre made hand.
On the turn there's not much I can do but calling again. I was a little scared because he sized down and obviously the board is super wet at this point. I think on this turn he is gonna check most overpairs behind so he is most likely gonna be drawing or has 8x.
On the river it gets a little dicey. Basically everything bricks and he is clearly repping A8 here. I wonder though if he really bets 1/2 pot with A8 when I block so much of his potential backup. I also feel like 8x and especially A8 will size up on this turn and not down.
Is that reasonable or is the hand completely misplayed and I'm being stupid on the river but lucky!?

I would fold pre. Flop is good to just call as we have no redraw at all. Nuts are going to change very often on this flop so by raising we get very often in really nasty spots. Plus we don't really want to face 3bet as chance of villain having straight with redraw or set+flush draw is then very high. Both then being ahead in equity.

Turn is mandatory call and river we probably have to call. Obviously no blocker to full house suck big time but then again there is also two fd available that didn't complete and we have almost no blocker to those.

I would expect villain to value bet like 84+ on river? From villain play I would question preflop and flop play but turn and river seems fine to me.

On river do we have all full house combos or would you X-r or donk bet some of them on earlier street? Less we have those more we need to find other hands to continue. Straight without FD blockers is probably not worst bluff catcher but would be lot better to have some blocker to full house.

I had an interesting dynamic with this guy. He was really lose against the other regs for example raising T432ss from SB 1st in. So his range is super wide and he exploits passive play. So far I know that he is more conservative with thin value. For example I can see him betting flop with an overpair but he would most certainly check back on turn. I play 100% of my range like this as it would be out of line for me to raise and he would certainly be suspicious of what's going on. So I rather play passive and let him do his thing and keep the pots small. The tables are only running because of 1-2 spots at the table anyway. So most of the time regs avoid each other which makes sense right? I just think it's really interesting to see what kinds of hands they play. There's definately certain regs that open 100% 1st in on the BTN. At the same time they defend a huge % of that to 3bets too because of position advantage. I'm still figuring out if that's actually a good thing longterm.
