BB is unkown

K7o is not on the tighter open charts I made for myself :fouet: (only K9 hmm not even K8o...), so would be a fold for now for me until opening my game again.
But I was just starting, looked at the chart too late and BOOM! I opened it!

Anyway, I flop nothing but hey it's Ace high and a bit drawy, I can fire once here right? He will just fold so many hands that are better or have decent equity. No he won't fold an Ace, maybe also not a Ten, and also not the draws. But his range on the BB vs BTN call is probably ridiculously wide (he's not a reg, and he has some chips to call), so he will fold enough?

But .. he called so I give up .. at least that was my initial plan.

Turn 4♣: brings in the bd flushdraw etc etc: check check

River completes the flusdraw ... and then he insta-checked,
and it felt to me he did not have the flush, not have 2 pair (would often donk here), but reasonably likely an Ace with which was insta-check-calling a lot, but also still a decent amount of other hands than that I thought he would be folding always to a decent bet, even a Ten if the bet is big enough.

And I was just starting, my mind was fresh, and because of that I thought of a different line to still win this pot. I just really felt he was chicken and would fold almost everthing to an overbet like he should. Maybe call AJ or better, also sometimes fold the better aces he just happened to call and not 3bet preflop.. So I decided to go for it this time.

This is certainly not a play I make often. Probably not often enough!! This was a unique hand where it felt like he was folding.

And feeling counts for something, as in my opinion feeling is just all those unfinished and unclear thoughts you have that are too abstract to put into specific words. We just label that as our 'feeling'. This I came up with myself and I deserve a prize for it if is not in all psychology books! You can use it but you have to quote 'Stackoffski'

Oh, I calculated:

0.37 / (0.27+0.37) * 100 = 57.8%

He needs to fold 58% of the time here.

I'm no fan of bluffing on NL2, but if I would do it on the river a bet of 15c could work as well. A over bet looks more like a bluff I think and with a smaller sizing it's cheaper to do it.

Cheers,

No I was (semi)bluffing way too often apparently. But I guess I am trying to find the borderline. What bluffs are appropriate and which not. I still think you can bluff some, especially in zoom!! At normal tables it's a bit different/

There is really difference between normal tables and large pool zoom. Well I guess mainly the meta-game.

what is like about your play is, that you have detected weakness and thus a good spot to bluff.

what i do not like is, that you do not think about your own range.

when you bluff here w a random hand, your value to bluff ratio will be out of the roof.

you have to make sure, that you use the same line w value hands and that you block those w your bluffs.

so if you would check back the turn w some K♦X:diamond: hands, and if you would overbet them for value,

then i would love that bluff w K♦Xo type of hands.

Well, 2 things: I did think about it a little bit: I thought I can have all this sht easily as far as he is concerned :f_biggrin:. And 2: A lot of unkowns opponent really cannot hand-read and only vagely put me on a range, like he raised preflop so he very well could have something good here with high cards or a flush.

Normally yes, on regular tables or against regular opponents. I would never make this bluff against regs because I WOULD bet all good flushdraws which also have a straightdraw and they know that, and that's why I wouldn't do it vs reg or on normal table.

But yeah the point you make about having blockers makes a lot of sense. I've been hearing a lot about that lately, but now it really sinks in. I am not always making this bluff, so when I do it, at least I should choose an occation when I have blocker(s). Thinking about blockers is something new for me really.

So you thought me something today that will change my game, it brings another dimension to it. Give me some percentage more foldequity when I do bluff. Might be a small %, but it's a game of small edges. So thank you for that Pokamon!

Blockers do create bit of difference on fold equity when bluffing etc. But other more important aspect is about bluffing frequencies. So when we choose bluff combo by blocking villain call/raise range or we unblock villain fold range we don't end overbluffing as easily.

For unblocking folding range one example case is flush draws. Depending of spot I often two barrel flush draws but rarely triple barrel those on river. Exception could be if I block straight, two pair or if my hand is so low that it's not really blocking villain flush draws. E.g. we open BU with 56s and SB call. SB should not have much of 5x or 6x hands in general.

In some spots I like to use bottom of my range hands as bluffs. Common case is if there is four flush cards on board or some 4789T type four straight on board. As in those case you can't block strong made hands that much without actually having that hand :)

I see. It's hard to achieve a certain frequency with something by guestimating. I've heard players talking about doing certain things based on the suits ... like bluffing somewhere with T9s, but if they want 50% frequency they only do it with spades and clubs for example.

Is this a common thing then to do or are there other/better ways to keep your frequencies in check?
Not that I think about frequencies yet (maybe in some vague way a little bit).

Now that I write this I guess they have randomizers ... you couldn't use that live probably but online of course you can.

Ha I guess that's true =).
