Freeroll close ITM 43s on BB

I would fold pre-flop most of the time.
Not sure how interesting a min cash was, but post-flop I would play the same.

with 16 BB there are lots of hands left before it gets critical.

Indeed. 70c could be a nice way to build up a bankroll if you start with nothing. Than you don't want to speculate with 43s for 16bb effective. If you have a decent bankroll already a min cash is less interesting for you.

At what stack depth do we stop defending suited hands on the BB?

Other factors besides stack depth include:
 player tendencies,
 how close we are to bubble,
 how many shorter stacks there are,
 how strong of a FD we have,
 whether the FD is connected at all

In this hand, personally I would fold pre -- mostly because with 16 BB left there are a lot of hands to come with better chances.

Without payout implications, 43s I think is an easy defend vs a 2x raise. And on that board, I would play the same.
Close to bubble, I think we have to evaluate if it's really important for us to min-cash or we want to play for the win and to act accordingly.
