[Closed] Thou Shal Not Tilt! NL10 and Beyond!

I've just had an absolute mare!

Lost $61 dollars in the space of 117 hands on NL25! My roll moved up to ~$487 after a small sucess in a $2 MTT last night, so today I got abit ahead of myself again and decided to play so NL25. I imediatly lost a stack within the first few hands to a awful fish, I was not too dishearted though as i was confident he would give me the oportunity to win it back, it was infact another player at the same table who allowed me to double up not long after, so now both me and the initial fish had double stacks, ♠_biggrin: And I was so tempted by the thought of winning two stacks on NL25 against this awful player. However, I think it was this temptation that turned out to be my downfall when not long after I was some what rash in decision making in a big pot agianst this player going all-in with a gut-shot flush draw expecting a whole lot of fold equity , he makes the call and shows two-pair which holds up Im down to $426 and leave the session imediatly with my tail between my legs (the hand is in the NL20 - NL50 BBS annalysis forum if you wish to have a look at it and I would appriciate your ideas on it. (Im in no doubt that I played it bad)

Anyway, I am pleased that this has not effected me mental as much as it would normally or has done in the past which shows im making progress on this front. To continue this trend I am going note 5 positive things that have come out of this situation;

It has not let me get ahead of myself and helped me realise there is stil alot to learn.

Shown I need to pick up on the strategy side which I have dropped of a little in the last 2 weeks in place of a biggr volume which provides greater short-term feats but perhaps not so in the long-term.

It has reminded me of my goal to spend time assesing the eventualities of all the decisions I make and not make rash decisions without thinking it through like I did in this hand.

It has made me realise that I am not ready of NL25 yet as it cna have such an effect on my bankroll and I was lucky to get away before it got worse.

I have not gone and major tilted and blown large proportions of my bankroll after loosing this big pot.

There we have it, I will draw a line from there, Onwards and Upwards

Your non-SD winnings should be positive as well. Post your stats and some non-SD hands. I'm sure we can find some issues.

About the AJ hand, I saw it, if that guy was a TAG I would probably would fold the flop cause very often he will have a set there which means you don't have FE. A call would be EV- too since he is going to bet strong again on the turn which means that if you call you have only one street to catch your flash.
Against a fish however I might call because he can do a mistake on the turn e.g. bet a small amount which will give us good implied. It also will be an easy stack off if we do hit the flash cause he never folds his made hand in that spot.

I suggest you stay away from NL25 until you have a decent BR of a least 25BI.

thanks for the advice Maya and I definatly agree that a call was the best option against this guy and was just a really bad and rushed decison on my part! I also agree about NL25 and will stick to your advice ♦

Okay, theres my stats for NL10 over the last 8.5K hands, My initial problem I would suggest in terms of none showdown winnings would be that I am c-betting too often, however if was high and over the last few thousand hands I have been working on reducing that. Is this right? Also, what other things are unexpected or could be improved, both inrelation to non-showdown winnings and any other areas of my game, particularly, is the VPIP/PFR ratio okay?

-vpip to pfr ratio is fine. vpip is a little loose for FR but as long as you comfortable with your post-flop play it's fine.

- wtsd is a bit a high too but as long as your w$sd is high too it's fine

-I notice that you steal % is low, which is probably one of the raseon the your non-sd winnings are -. Use the "fold BB to steal" and fold SB to steal" to figure if you can steal more from the blinds. Generally steal more against tight players, steal less against loose players.

- what's your resteal range? do you resteal as a bluff sometimes? do you look for at your opponent's steal% when they try to steal your blind?
Go over some hands from the blinds and try to answer those questions.

-what's your 3bet pf % and fold to 3bet pf%?

Thanks Maya, and you are right I do not really re-steal as a bluff from the blinds, onyl when i think I have a hand ahead of his range , or rarely I try it against a really tight player if I think it he is folding more often than not. You say my Steal% is low so what stats should be expected for, Attempted Steal, Fold SB to Steal and Fold BB to Steal?

And these are all from short-hand... Does that mean my VPIP is too tight if you assumed they were full ring?

Right it has been a frustrating couple of days, managed to pull my roll back up to $480 through playing some SNG's, I know I stated at the start of the blog I wouldnt, but I was genuinly play for the enjoyment and really low buy-ins as I wanted to play some poker but not BBS NL10 as I needed a break. Despite this, through a few losses in some more SNG's and some more on the retrn to NL10 , due to some bad play and a little tilt my Bankroll is back down to $426. The last few days I have lost focus and not been doing any strategy work. I am going to pick this up and get motivated again to increase my bankroll and play good poker.

Continuing downwards

I last few days I have been playing bad and running bad: = Tilt. I have hardly played any hands over the last few days as my motivation seems to have been disappeared with my bankroll Down to $375 and on the end of my graph there is a steep verticle line. Kind of frustrating the way you can loose thousands' of hands of good poker in just a few hundred of terribly bad play mainly due to tilt.

I am writing the post to help get my thoguhts together and make this the trough on my graph so things will start turnign upwards once more!
