I wore it again today — but the influence had worn off.

What a Difference a Day Makes

I changed the following aspects of my game today:
:diamond:  Tightened WAAAY up — the reason? Most of the hands I posted looking for post-flop advice started with "fold pre"
:diamond:  I did not flat nearly as much, but 3Bet the usual 5 or so percent
:diamond:  I called precisely Zero River raises
:diamond:  I CBet bigger — 2/3 to 3/4 pot. If I'm going to get called down by calling stations, they're going to have pay dearly to see the next card.
:diamond:  Overbet more often with strong hands

So far, so good...

Struggling today

Playing to get the Hand-of-the-Day reward is difficult, especially when the hand is 98

It is so tempting to overplay hands where you hit part of the flop, but it is pointless to win a $1.00 reward while losing $5.00.
I was doing fine, but one terrible misclick cost me my stack. Fought back to break-even, and still playing.

This one hand recovered my losses...

I Hate Blast

Of all the Spin formats, Blast is the worst.
Today I entered the forced-all-in mode with a 10:1 chip lead and lost 4 straight all-ins

I did recover somewhat from the previous post, by playing NL 5 in squeaky-tight mode.

Not enough to profit though.

HotD reward was only $0.50 as well...

So from my new record a week or so ago, I'm back down to needing 18 bucks to get back there.

An Unusual Hand

I had to check the HH to see why I got the entire pot.
As it turns out, we both had A355x for the high, but he had no low
So I expected to get 3/4, b̶u̶t̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶r̶a̶r̶e̶ ̶i̶n̶s̶t̶a̶n̶c̶e̶,̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶b̶e̶t̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶k̶i̶c̶k̶e̶r̶ ̶p̶l̶a̶y̶e̶d̶.
and on re-checking I find that I did 3/4 him <sigh> [1]

Desperation Equity

It's a real thing
I was card dead totally ITM in the Level 60+ freeroll, and was down to my last BB
This only runs on the last Saturday of the month, and it one of the best moneymakers — there is a slow structure, and people will actually fold occasionally

I finished in the top 1.4% (83rd of 6002) for 7.50 — not too shabby for a freeroll
The real puzzle is "How is it that I can do so well in freerolls, but not so well in tournaments where I actually pay an entry fee?

The Challenge So Far:
Start  Last Wk  This Wk    +/-      Goal  To Date     To Go
 675.88   872.54   862.59  -9.95  3,500.00   186.71  3,313.29

Last Week I set a new high level for the bankroll, and we lost quite a bit.
Today's 7.40 score helped a lot, but we're still $11.22 off the pace

Misc category this week is entirely Hand-of-the-Day rewards

Short Session

The idea was to play 100 hands of NL 5 — quit after 95 because I set "sit out on next BB" at 94 hands, and the next one was it.

OK though.
I managed to avoid all traces of stupidity — at least the usual stupidity.
In this hand, it might have been wiser to fold flop...
(or even pre-flop)

A Decent Month

But there were some high spots and low spots

Let's start with the Daily Quads...
Pacific Poker - $0.05 PL Hi/Lo - Omaha Hi/Lo - 3 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: $1.08
SB: $0.98
Hero (BB): $1.00

SB posts SB $0.02, Hero posts BB $0.05

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.07) Hero has 9♣:T♥:7♠:T♣:

BTN raises to $0.17, fold, Hero calls $0.12

Flop: ($0.36, 2 players) K♠:9♥:T♦:
Hero checks, BTN bets $0.36, Hero raises to $0.83 and is all-in, BTN calls $0.47

Turn: ($2.02, 2 players) T♠:

River: ($2.02, 2 players) 2♠:

BTN shows A♣:K♦:Q♠:8♠: (Flush, King High)
(Pre 61%, Flop 20%, Turn 0%)
Hero shows 9♣:T♥:7♠:T♣: (Four of a Kind, Tens)
(Pre 39%, Flop 80%, Turn 100%)
Hero wins $1.90
Rake paid $0.12

The category breakdown for May:
 Category     Won
      F/R   12.77
     NLHE  -37.66
     PLO8   -7.34
      TRN    0.34
     Misc   44.98
    Total   13.09

Miscellaneous was almost all Hand-of-the-Day rewards, but today there was a 2-cent discrepancy between the displayed balance and the hand histories. Usually I can resolve these, but I couldn't find it, and for 2 cents it wasn't worth the time.

An Interesting Day

I went hunting for the hand of the day (98)
This is a hard hand to win with post-flop in both hold'em and PLO8, but I chose PLO8.
I had my 3 post-flop wins in only 22 hands, and picked up $3.65 along the way.

On the downside, I cashed in zero freerolls.

Ya can't win 'em all...

But I'm once again within $5.00 of my record.

Today Was a Struggle

But I hung in there and played cash as long as I was in a tournament.
Be sure to check out the https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?postid=3319055#post3319055

No, that had nothing to do with the Hand-of-the-Day reward, which I collected for the third consecutive day.
Here is the category breakdown for today's session:
    Category    Won  Count
         F/R   1.19      3
        Misc   1.00      1
        NLHE   2.72      1
        PLO8  -1.28      1
         TRN  -0.80      2
 Grand Total   2.83      8

The session graph is interesting also
I play 20BB stacks while I'm hunting for the hand-of-the-day reward, but after I had collected it, I switched to a 100BB stack and went hunting for money.

Here's the giraffe for the cash session

Not the best, but OK

This one hurt...
Opponent was playing 75/50 and very aggro, so I was thinking my second pair would be good.
It wasn't the hand that hurt — it was the knowledge that I played it stupidly.
It was mine for the taking by betting large OTT, or even the flop.

I am certain that the notion that "we lose on the river" is an example of perception bias we see it over and over, and it has impact so it sticks.
I would like to be able to create a database query that reports how many times that equity reverses on the river, but at this stage, I don't know how.

What I have been doing lately is keeping track of how many times I win with the river gin card

A Miserable Day

I lost less than I could have, but still a loss
Today's hand-of-the-day was 87 — which is always a tough one to get. I saw that hand 10 times, but only won with three of them.
The hard thing to do is to fold the current HotD. There is a strong mental pressure to bluff with it. I succumbed to that pressure only twice.
The rest of the time I managed to get to a showdown cheaply.

But I did succeed, however I only got 50 cents, dropping $13.02 along the way.
I had a top 2.5% finish in a freeroll though, so that helped a bit with morale — but not much else.
However we're now 1/3 of the way to the monthly reward, so that helps
