fold, fold, fold, fold, SB raises to 3 BB, Hero calls 2 BB

Flop: (6 BB, 2 players) Q♥ 7♠ T♥
SB bets 4 BB, Hero raises to 23.88 BB, SB calls 19.88 BB

Turn: (53.76 BB, 2 players) A♦
SB checks, Hero checks

River: (53.76 BB, 2 players) 8♣
SB checks, Hero bets 27.96 BB, SB raises to 129 BB and is all-in, Hero ? ?

The villain is a reg.

I think river is a value bet.

It's very difficult to fold here because of the board texture.

Thoughts?

I probably want to bet/fold turn to check back river.

As played, on the river what do we do vs a big lead? We have a tough decision and probably fold, right? Now when they x/jam they probably have little less bluffs even than leading. So I think as played, river is a bet/fold.

I prefer to continue betting turn to extract value from flush-draws and Qx. Also we probably get the opportunity to check back river if we do so.

Why do you raise to 23bb on the flop? Way too big.
Raise to 14 max here.

I would bet the turn smallish, 1/3 for protection vs draws. Although our hand is pretty bad here so dont mind the check.

River is bad. I would check back.
As played easy fold.

It's interesting why you almost 6x raised the flop with bottom 2 pair.
On turn I would most of the time continue for value and protection.

I would like to know what you're own thoughs was duringg the hand.
Could be interesting as well.

Cheers,

I like to raise HUGE in these spots because I feel that my hand is vulnerable. Two pair that has a weak kicker is an example. I do it with set and straight sometimes also.

Here, perhaps I got carried away and focused too much on the FD at hand.

My hand was vulnerable again no? Even in this one.

don't like raise size on flop, too big, stick to 4x OOP and 3xIP unless you know villain is a call down champ. At that point you are making the pot so big, and you say you feel vulnerable with 2 pair, you are ending up giving yourself pot odds no matter what to call villain on any jam. which i only see happening with big strong draws or TOP 2 pair, sets or better. there are so many cards on turn that hurt you, Aces,King, Queen, Jack, any heart. these all make you slow down.

once you 2bet raise flop i think you need to bet turn, even with completed str8 out there. you have to stick to the aggression. if you get jammed or reraise you are pot committed. even being a little deeper stacked your pot odds are nuts. This is the main issue with doing whacky reraise sizing.

example. you rasie to 12bb on flop he calls, pot os now 33-34bb you have about 110bb. you have spo much more wiggle room, you can 2/3 bet pot for 22bb and be able to fold hand if jammed on, you can check through turn, and on river same idea, and not have all that money invested in hand, or you can check call river which i suggest as FD miss, but, villain could have better 2 pair or a bunch of possible str8s.

in the end, if you get outdrawn on the turn so be it, shit happens, its easy to lose 20bb and get pissed off you got outdrawn then lose 135bb getting out drawn and feeling committed with 2 pair. IMO

Nice analysis sir. So you are calling the shove then?

Yes, I admit, the flop raise was too big especially here.

yes, pot at 200BB and you have like 50-60bb left 4:1 kind of don't think you have a choice, unless without a doubt in your mind you can say you are beat.

Aside of raise sizing on flop I think its xback river or very small bet. Half is probably way too big given that you aim to get called by one pair hands on board where he has abundance of better two pairs , straights and many exclusive sets.

It's the same 142% pot button on the flop once again but my hand here was vulnerable again no?

Edit: added explanation

You have the nuts in this spot. So raising bigger is fine. The reasoning for raising here is you want to get as many chips in the middle whilst you hold the nuts. You don't want to give free/cheap equity to draws, and if he holds a hand like a set, any turn card can kill our action.

In the first hand, you don't have the nuts. You have two pair, you can definitely raise for protection/value, but you raised to 6x his bet. If he jams you have to fold. In which case you just threw 8bb's away for no reason. Plus a hand like this is not even necessarily looking to triple barrel as most cards on the turn / river are going to be bad for our hand. Plus, after opponent calls our flop raise and turn barrel, what sort of range is he calling a triple barrel with? Does our hand even hold up against that range? at best it's extremely thin, at worst we're losing another 20BB+ on the river.

You want to raise 4x at max on the flop in that spot unless you have the nuts.

I think I agree. I don't like V's shove on flop btw, I have loads of straight as BB on this board.

16 combos of 97 + 16 combos of Q9 = 32 combos.
