I want to discuss a hand I played today on GGPoker.
I'm holding AKo preflop and raise. I get 2 caller. I'm flopping nut flush draw and I have two overcards. 9 cross cards will give me the nut flush, they are 9 (helpful cards) / 38 (not helpful cards) for the nut flush. They are 3 aces left and 2 kings. 1 king card i need to reduce due to the flush draw. This gives me a total of 9 + 3 +2 helpful cards. 14 / 33 = 0,4242 equity to hit either nut flush or top pair top kicker. I have 3 callers preflop of my raise. At the flop I bet 0,25$ in a 0,5$ pot. I get one caller. I wanted to build a pot, and I also think I have more then 10% fold equity with my bet. This gives me a total equity of 0,4242 + 0,1 = 52,42 % equity for my hand. I give the other people pot odds of 3:1, which is not good enough to call with a flush draw, they would need 5:1 to call profitable?
At the turn the two is pairing, but I don't think my opponent has a set at the flop because he didn't raised to protect from the flush draw. So i think I'm still ahead and bet a second time at the turn. I give my opponent 4:1 pot odds to call my bet. Which is again not good enough for the flush draw to call profitable. At the turn I have 9 + 3+ 2 helpful cards, and 32 not helpful cards. 14/32 = 0,4375 equity for nut flush or top pair top kicker. With my second bet I wanted to show strength and I tried to get my opponent fold. I still think my fold equity is higher as 0,1, so my total equity is 0,4375 + 0,1 = 0,5375. At the river I think checking is common sense, I only have high card Ace. Once I read you should never bluff the river at the micro stakes. My opponent called my preflop raise, the flop and turn bet. I see me behind now at the river without hitting one of my outs.
Would you have played the hand differently? Would it be better to bet higher at the turn to get more fold equity?
