Dear Community,

I was holding 88 pocket pair, and raised preflop. I got one caller. Flop I made a contibet and the turn I wanted to use the Ace as a scare card and I made a bigger bet. The opponent called the bet. On this board I don't think he is playing a draw, straight draw is very unlikely and also no flush draw possible. I was calling his river bet, because I thought he maybe has a worse hand. But I think it was a fault!
How would you have played this hand? The opponent had 20% VPIP he didn't seemed to be a complete fish.
I think I was the fish here :)

Would you have betted also the turn like I did it?

Best regards,
kingdollar

On NL2 it's always hard to bluff. Offcourse the ace could be a scare card for villain as well, but if villain is passive I would go for a cheap showdown and fold to a reasonable bet. Off course the river would be a fold most of the time against almost any NL2 villain.

Cheers,
