It seems that the negative tendencies of the internet have also seeped into the online poker world over the years.

Where in the past something was occasionally said at the table, a compliment or just some random topics, nowadays it is dead silent in the chat.

The exception to that silence is at most someone who verbally attacks another player, using swear words, a negative emoji, a short gif or even a short video recorded with the webcam in which the person shows both his middle fingers.

Am I getting old or were the old days of online poker at least more fun, where the chat was used in a positive way instead of harassing or making it known how to play better, towards other players, or calling them an aquatic, vertebrate animal...?

Or was it never fun to begin with and a solo game all along?

I like to hear your thoughts.

on many sites the chat is banned for security reasons. those that still allow it, Stars, for example, sometimes it is fun sometimes is real aggro hate speech, despair etc.

Well, I personally need a bit of fun at the tables to enjoy playing the online game of poker more.
I'm bad at grinding like a robot (or monkey even haha)

I'm going on a PLO cash game adventure.

I will be playing PLO10 (max. 6 tables at a time) and see how that goes.
The NLH variant is boring me for already a few years now and I think there is a lot of value still in the PLO variant of poker.

I also like that the complexity of the PLO game is a lot greater compared to NLH, a part of the value comes from this.
Another reason for playing PLO instead of NLH is also that PLO isn't as "solved" as NLH, which also creates more space to improvise and play your personal game.

I will keep you guys posted here on my game progress and keep this forum and community a bit more alive in the meantime.

Spoiler

An active forum is also part of the poker fun for me :f_drink:

Just a riminder: YOU ARE THE POKER COMMUNITY! (and it seems to be dying... such a shame)

It adds to the tendency that everyone becomes more individual these days. It becomes a lonely game without the interaction of others if you ask me.

Thanks for that, internet... (I guess people rather spend time on bullshit video's and social media instead...)

Yes, it has been quite quiet here already some time. Tens of post daily only in Small talk, I mark them as read many time every day without opening them. But keep blogging. How is your PLO10 project going? Any interesting hands?

Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated :f_drink:

I must admit, I'm not that active myself on the forum either, but that's also due to not playing poker that much lately.
(I'm serious when I'm saying that I kinda lost the fun in playing the game...)

Lemme post two hands here (which I also posted in the hand discussion section:

Spoiler

Though spot, because I'm out of position and my hand didn't improve, but villains hand might have and since he is betting, that is rarely a bluff.

Spoiler

I would 100% think villain has the nuts on the river as well (for a split pot), he remarked after the hand: "you just called with the nuts". But my reasoning is that when it's a split pot, there is no reason for raising it, because you just pay more rake. And worse hands are not calling after raising his potbet.

Click the incognito icon top right to toggle positions instead of names, few other options for view as well.
The first I took from Pokercraft, the second one from table review hand (saved as picture) think vpip stat is standard not shown in Pokercraft.
