A pat 8-low is an excellent hand in 2-7 Single Draw. Having a player shove into you predraw while you are holding this hand is an excellent situation. Add the fact that a bounty is on the line, and that two players who you have covered are willing to commit their stacks behind you, and the situation seems almost too good to be true.

The stone cold nuts, directly to our left, also dealt predraw. If that's not a cooler, I don't know what is.
As a result, none of my previous successes building that good stack mattered, the tourney was bricked with no cash and no bounty. Same thing in Badugi, which also featured an opponent drawing out twice on the last draw after starting with very speculative hands - though at least in the first one, I maybe should have played it better. Courchevel at least secured a bounty, but I also went on to squander a good stack within a short time. Again, it was probably avoidable, but the runouts weren't great either.
It was a terrible weekend at the tables in general, setting me back quite a bit and undoing all of the earlier profits from this month. I'm not sure if I can really get rid of those costly mistakes in Courchevel, it might be better to just drop this game. Badugi and 2-7 SD will both stay for now, but we definitely need better results in there. 2-7 SD may have been somewhat unlucky at times, but I really need to get a move on in Badugi. Maybe things will pick up once I manage to get some better grinding conditions in the evening.

Let's start with the Australian pine. Isn't it amazing that these tiny things would eventually grow into a full size tree? You wouldn't think twice about vacuuming tiny flakes like those off the floor, and yet they have the potential to grow taller than some houses under the right conditions.
I took twelve of them and arranged them in rows of four.
We only have seven African wisteria seeds. I took three of them, without any prior treatment.
They will go in the middle row here. The other four seeds will be soaked first, I think, and then put above and below our original row.
Everything is ready now, may our seeds grow and prosper.

Nice hand, and even with the perfect kicker... except this is Courchevel. 
I still gave that hand a go for the flush potential, but had to fold on the flop.
I mentioned in my last poker post that I was not sure if I should even keep trying with Courchevel. Today was one of the few days when I had time for it, however, so I gave it another chance, at least for that day. The result was another deep run, with me even taking over the chipleading position a few times. We are still waiting for a big score, but while I usually fail to finish the job, I admit that I at least manage to get good runs off the ground with decent consistency, so I must be doing something right.
It just would be nice to eventually get a chip graph that doesn't look like this, with promising stacks eventually entering a continuous free fall mode, often ending in a serious of big neck-breaking hands, starting at a point when the stack was still quite healthy.
To get to the point, I finished 16th, with another good cash that doesn't set the world on fire.
I only played some 2-7 SD afterwards, where I was soon left in the lurch by my draws and bricked again. I probably played too many draws in the first place, however - better go over those proposed ranges yet again.
As much as I would like to set a more definite course, the grind is still very much in an experimental stage. I haven't given up on either Courchevel or 2-7 SD yet, but Five Card Draw just seems to be too luck-based, I think this one is out for now, and I currently don't see a return of the Stud games either.
Could there be a place for 8-Game? So far, I don't see it. The offered tournaments are a bigger problem than the game itself, however. If I eventually do see some serious potential in Courchevel, I might be able to change my grinding hours in a way that should be more friendly to 8-Game.
Know your place (gardening update)!!
Our baby-peppers are slowly becoming "children", and they feel comfy in their "kindergarten". After getting rid of a couple of weak plants (which I couldn´t save anymore, so unfortunately I had to discard them), here are the strong ones, who made it:
You may notice (if you look closely) that the plants are labelled with either an "F", a "G", a "U" or a "B". That will be their final place: F stands for field, G for greenhouse, U for "lower garden" (in front of our house, German: "unterer Garten") and B for balkony/terrace.

Poker mini-update: 2-7 Single Draw finished right on the final table bubble for a small profit. I seem to do a decent enough job with the ITMs in this game, but without any big scores, and they are is what MTTs are all about.
I said before that Five Card Draw is likely out, but I am starting to have second thoughts. Maybe the perceived large amount of hi-hands I received tonight has something to do with it, but it's mostly another thing I noticed as I was playing 2-7 SD: When it comes to your hands, what you see may mostly be what you get, with limited drawing potential compared to other games. However, what matters is what you do with your chips, less so your cards. As long as you know the common situations and when to go for value, bluffing and bluff-catching - as well as folding - there shouldn't be much that is stopping your progress.
Common sense, right? It can be easy, though, to get stuck in a "mode" where you only think about your cards, but not about the game dynamics.
Still a lot of "chance-giving" in those MTTs, and not a lot of serious grinding. Ah well, the next few days will probably be very light on poker anyway, though there may be some Courchevel tomorrow

Do we see one of our African wisteria seeds germinating already? Prim and I have been wondering about this when she was visiting yesterday. I don't think it is, though. Could just as well be some specks of dust or something along these lines. Not sure how they would settle there, with the container being covered most of the time, but I guess my bedroom is a little dusty.
This is how things look like right now. One of the Australian pine seeds inexplicably made it to the surface, so I added an extra layer of soil. Prim also advised me that the soil was probably kept a little too wet. So far, I have been watering it every afternoon after returning from work, maybe it's better to only do it every second day. I skipped the watering for today, at least, the soil still seemed somewhat moist.
Oh, and we planted the other four wisteria seeds yesterday, after soaking them in water overnight. I was a little surprised that they didn't float, neither when they were ready nor when I first put them in. Two of those seeds have been planted by the grindette herself, and I would have liked to take a picture of both of us holding the seeds in our hands... but frankly, Prim was hungry after her long trip, so we sped things up.

Finally went for a 5K run again. My time was slightly worse, but still within the ballpark of my two previous times this month, which were 30:41 and 30:48 minutes, respectively. I found myself struggling early on and appeared to have a time in the high 15 minutes range after about the first half of the course, so it seems like I at least have been able to pick up the pace a bit later on.
Those times are not important, however, because I plan to introduce a much bigger challenge in about a week, which may be the greatest sporting challenge of 2025 on this blog. Stay tuned... and stay ready, Prim - I think you will be involved for at least one day in that one too.

No, I´m not talking about the whole Koopa freeroll challenge but about today´s session! What a pain in the bum bum, guys!! You won´t believe it!! 
Couldn´t make it to the 3 pm Free to play today, so we directly started with Bowser jr. and the 4 pm free to play. Besides, we used a satty ticket, which Bowser jr. had won for us last week. It was the 0,22 $ ticket and ...hey, why not? Let´s play the satty. Meanwhile, at 4:30 pm we played our usual plo8 MTT, 15 $ Gtd.
Imagine, you´re tired from your tennis training and then find yourself mostly folding at the tables, because you just get total junk! But that was not the only pain in the bum bum. We got rivered 3x, in plo8 with the nutstr8 (no low) --> board pairs on the river! 
Costed half our stack! In the 4 pm Free to play, jammed flop as desperate shortie with top pair, Villain calls with nothing, just K2, nothing hit, river: K!!! And another "goodie" in plo8, after a desperate double up, still short, jamming turn with top 2 and nut-low-draw --> Villain gets their gut shot on the river!!!
At least we qualified to the next round in the 0,22 $ satty. That one started at 7 pm, which gave us some time to try something new: A 0,33 $ Mystery Bounty MTT. Why not? And to add insult to injury, we were in both tournaments totally, completely card-dead! Eventually we ran with TT into JJ in the satty and lost our flip as desperate shortie with A9 vs 44 in the Mystery Bounty. There were no bounties yet, by the way, the tournament starts in normal freezout-mode and switches in the final phase to Mystery Bounty, which means, you get a bounty for knock-outs, but you don´t know how much, so the bounties are pretty much a surprise package. Sounds cool, but just not today!!!
