Hand like A522ss is only +0,01 EV in trainer. This is breakeven open theory wise. Problem is that we get lot more multiway pots most of time and we have less fold equity to take blinds down preflop. So in reality this hand would be too weak to open. TT33ds though is fairly nice holding as we have reasonable chance to get fd when hitting set. Its also over +0,2 EV in theory.
Anyway if hand EV is less than 0.1 its definitely on borderline. But yeah you should ask how hand play in multiway if that is likely to happen. In these cases you should look for more nut potential. So connectiviry, high cards, high pairs, high suits or double suitedness. Often some combination of these needs to happen to open. One very common leak in small stake is overvalue of ds hands when that is only strong feature of the hand.
