I have a hand from a live MTT I would like to share. I think that it's a cooler, I don't know what else I could have done but I am curious to see if there's any other opinion. Interesting hand anyway.

9-table, blinds are 800-1600 with a 1600 ante posted by the BB.

Hero with 75000 UTG A♣:K♣: raises to 3200
UTG+1 with 90000 calls. He has made some loose calls and has shown straights out of nowhere.
All fold to BB (80000) who calls.

Flop (12000) K♥:9♣:8♠:
I bet 9k both call
I bet big both for value and to protect my hand from straights, backdoor draws.

Turn (39000) 6♣:
I bet 20000 UTG+1 calls, BB folds
As I see it I only loose to :Tx::7x: and I bet big for value for my top pair top kicker and the nut flush draw.

River (79000) J♠:
At this point as I see it I could be loosing to :Kx::Jx: but I can't be scared of that and just check and face an awkward river bet.
And if there was a straight or set or 2 pair, it would have been raised already.

I shove 42400 he insta calls shows T♣:7♣:
I imagined that :Tx::7x:suited would be too loose even for him from UTG+1.
If he had any other :Tx::7x:suited and not :club: he would have raised the turn I think.

Thanks for the discussion.

Keep in mind that this is a tournament and the pot is 1600 more, I couldn't add the BB ante in the software.

Not sure what kind of live tournament this is, but T7s is a loose defend from UTG+1 and I think you played it fine.

Yes thank you, I was quite surprised, maybe from the BB I would expect that but not from UTG+1. It was a 55$ daily MTT in a local casino.
He was making loose calls with marginal hands all over the place. Insult to injury, I really believe he would have raised the turn if we didn't have the same suit, and alarm bells would be going off then.

Against a player like him you can still shove for thin value I think on the river. Off course you end up a decent amount with the 2nd best hand as well.

You know this is a hand of almost 1,5 years ago.

That's okay, but it can also show poker wisdom to ABC players today... :f_o:

Maybe you could have saved half of your chips after seeing that scary card on the river... :f_cool:

In most cases, the previous version will still work if the Re-buy period is still before the end...
