Funny for him.. what happens if you try to be funny? A rubber glove, that's what.

Still, a much better result than you could have hoped for... I'm sure if you were asked if you could just sit in limbo for 10 hours and then get a visa till Christmas before you set out you'd have jumped at it!

Congratulations fella, nice result. :f_cool:

One of the better posts i read around here!! If u changed PM for AM it looked like a horror movie ;-)

Best of luck to u and your girlfriend and i'm glad everything worked out ok!! F*** Americans!!

3 Canadians :P Great story. A month ago I got pulled into the border office and was stuck in a locked room for 3 hours with no explenation. And I'm fully Canadian!

Amazing news mate, although im not looking forward to seeing you at the tables again :f_biggrin:

i have never had problems at the border and i am also fully canadian

Waiboy... yeah I probably would've take a 10 hour wait for this result... I was in shock for ages... the border can be interesting... you hear all sorts of stories and in general when I go into the USA it normally takes me a while cos of that damn red flag on my passport... I think they just like the power.... oh, and the US guys had no sense of humour... I cracked a few jokes to try and lighten the mood (for myself really) but they were rocks... glad no rubber glove TBH...

Lennonac: thanks mate... never forget you can always table select :f_p:

Fun101: I really think the problem came down to me being a South African, on a British passport, married to a Canadian with a "history" of not leaving the USA before... but I have to say loving the Canadians now...

Virtuagod: Thanks a lot... yeah that's pretty much my attitude to... but as I was explaining to Chrissy, I'm gonna have to go to the US at some point... can't win the WSOP otherwise :f_biggrin:

Verre: Yeah, sometimes they can just be pricks... did they eventually give you an explanation? It's taken me 4 attempts to figure out why I get questioned extensively everytime I enter the US... now I know, next time I can prepare... although it'll be a long long while before I go back...

Atoks: Thanks... I'll be online sometime soon and we can chat... I'm curious to see how your challenge is going...

As for poker, I resume playing tomorrow... today I have to finish preparing things for winter, and start my paperwork :f_p: In October I am aiming to achieve Diamond status on Titan... That really is the one goal I am setting myself. It encompasses the volume I want to achieve. I still don't believe in setting a profit/goal as that is not in my control, but a positive winrate would be nice :f_grin: My main focus is to push my overall volume up a bit, keep my psychological mindset solid, keep my game solid, work on my game and in general do things right. Thank God I can do this all in Canada :f_o:

Well, when you get this little sun all year even your humour gets dark!

I love the story thanks Nick. I'd follow up and send a nice email to the border guard admins saying how much they helped and how nice they were. I bet they don't get so many compliments!

Reminds me of a time as a teen, in a parking lot behind a night club in a car full of people and smoke - all of a sudden two cop cars bookend us, they ask us to get out of the car... The night club begins blaring some old AC/DC song - the ominous gongs sound. The cop looks down on us and says with a super serious face and a deep voice "Hells Bells Boys".. (of course they let us go after some strange search that didn't find much of anything)

Thanks... well Chrissy keeps telling me to write one... one day... maybe :f_p: BTW sorry I didn't get to chat today, had a busy day between sessions... trying to sort stuff out for this application... not fun...

On a poker note got the month off to a decent volume/frustrating suckout, cracked a green number day...

I feel that I may need to work on my stamina through the month, but not a bad start... I only get cranky at the suckouts when I am hungry/tired/both...

I am proud to say that no-one died after this :f_biggrin:

There were some interesting encounters today... like one earlier in the day where you had a little verbal disagreement with dcoach... and yes he is an idiot, and does not fully understand pot odds :f_cool:

Yeah I know, that kind of pissed me off, as he is a reg with a good roi, I had to go back over the hand later to make sure i didnt make a mistake, Still Im not going to fold in that situation and let him make me his bitch :f_biggrin:

Even tho he has a decent ROI I give him no credit as he is so bad... Seen him limp/fold at high blinds regularly, overlimp JJ and generally he is great to push into cos he can fold with 1BB left as the BB...

Didnt know he had that many leaks, The only note I have on him says in early blinds he limped along with 4 other limpers with AQo!

Should go platinum tommorow _biggrin:

Played 2 sessions today, and they went pretty well... I know of 2 spots where I may have made a questionable play, but overall I am happy with my play... managed to play quite a few $33s which I was happy about, and I managed to finish up $721 today, so that beats the other day :f_biggrin: I was running pretty nicely, especially in the second session... I would like to still push my volume up a bit... My second session today I probably could have pushed about an hour or so longer, but I was beginning to feel brain-fried, so in the interest of playing good poker I just wound it down... Yesterday and today have been pretty similar volume-wise but I would like to push it up by about 25%, that'll be something I'll work on...

I suppose one reason my brain is a bit fried is that I am trying to sort out paperwork for my application... and how is this for a headache... I need to get a clearance certificate from the police in:

South Africa
England
Ireland, and of course...
USA (not done with them yet :f_p:

Reminds me of a globalisation comment :f_confused: So I am organising all of that btw sessions... fun fun... Anyway the weather here is so aweful, rainy and cold that it is awesome weather to be inside and grind... although I think I am done for today...

These are the days that I love :f_love:

Busted out of 12 in a row and didn't bat an eye lid... watched my AA cracked and sick suckouts and just pushed through it... I wasn't expecting to play much today, but Chrissy got called into work unexpectedly so I put in one super session of about 50 games consecutively... It was the push I was looking for, I broke through the mark that I had normally been winding games down and it was frikkin awesome... I am just so pumped as I feel so confident in my psychological game... the winnings are not really the issue, just a nice bonus :f_p:

Hey Nick.. really good to see you're really getting on top of things. GL with the coppers.. sounds like a nightmare.

But on waaaay more important matters:

i. How did you get that funky looking skype mark beside your handle? If you don't know what I'm talking about it may be that it is a skype explorer addon thingy. The interwebz impresses me more each day. :f_eek:

ii. How is the cricket going in SA.. are you up to date with results? I really haven't followed it since NZ were beaten by SA early doors. Guess your boys must be in the final? [/needlessly excessive sarcasm] :f_p:

I am not quite sure about the skype thingy... not really sure... and on the cricket... I was listening to the game while I played today... very nicely done, now you guys just have to beat the Aussies... seriously as far as our cricket in big tournaments go... we're a bit like the All Blacks and the world cup :f_o:
