The way the hand has been played, I think I will also go broke on the river and do exactly what you have done.
It is hard to put SB on set on the flop, this is also the reason you have called the turn bet hoping that your nut flush draw is still good. Hitting your draw on the river and going broke with it is also my line here since you have said that this table is loose.
I guess we are really in the same boat having the same results.

yeah i guess. im not too disappointed with the way i played the hand considering i was up against a fish. but i should never have played bss on nl600 in the first place. anyway whats done is done and i just hope tomorrow i will be able to return to my A game.
the loss just hit me hard because the biggest loss i have ever taken before is around 350$ so 800$ is a LOT to me but it is a big comfort that i am still doing above expectation for the month.

I played from 12am until 3 am today. I won $68. I am not really happy about this session since I again took a stab in NL600 but lost a lot there and I end up chasing my losses in NL400.
I think I will stay in NL400 for now.
im having a break now after my first session of the day and around 350 up. it is so nice to finally have a profitable day again, it feels like an elephant has been lifted off my shoulder.
and im even running below ev today. and allthough i shouldnt care about that ev lnie it is hard to ignore when its below b/e for several days.
anyway i am proud of my strong mentality and i feel im totally back in my A game. i consider the 600$ loss yesterday an expensive lesson an if i finish 600$ below target for the month then i wont mind too much.
im finished playing today now and im up 301$ which is fine.
i have been thinking a lot lately about how to play against minraises and im still not sure but i do think that more often than not they are weak so i dont think i have to treat them quite as normal raises.
my usual poker scedule is to play 1 session of 1½-2 hours and then have a small break of around ½ hour and then play another 1½-2 hour session.
but i have noticed that my second sessions usually isnt nearly as profitable as my first one. this is probably either due to lack of concentration or just variance.
today has been yet another bad day so far. but i also started out in a very bad mood.
after i had sat down at 6 tables and posted blinds and lost a quick all in resteal with 88 my mouse stopped working. so i had to get my ps2 mouse, plug it in and reboot. after i have rebooted my keyboard isnt working. at this point am getting so mad that i am reaching that primitive caveman-like state of mind where all i can think of is to smash something. so i take my aggressions out on the broken mouse. now i can think clearly again and i think of checking if i could have plugged out the keyboard by accident... i have... i now consider wether i am in too bad a mood to play but i decide i can handle it.
now, 470 hands later im down a total of 192$. i have been pretty card dead but other than that there is realy no excuse. so now im gonna have a break and afterwards i'll play another 500 hands or so and hopefully win it all back plus more.

... so i had a very short session just now. i got seated on a nl600 table with a cstation and it was a real dilemma wether to buy in for max or not. i decided not to because i would go mad if i lost another 600 like a few days ago so i just palyed without rebuying. also after doubling up. i know being midstacked is a disadvantage but i wanted value from the cstation but i didnt want to risk too much of my br.
i cant decide if it was a bad idea to keep playing even after i doubled up or not. i dont think it was to be honest, because i was playing quite conservatively and focussing on the callstation.
when the cstation sat out i just waited to be blinded out as well. but then i got QhQd and my stack at that point was ~300$. a fishy player limped and i raised him up. flop came 269 all hearts so i hit a flush draw.he checked, i raised and he reraised and we were all in. i figured that i would have at least 44% EQ here. turn and river didnt help me and he showed 22. so it was a coinflip pretty much.
today i am -500$ and running 400$ below ev and even further below donk factor.
i have only played 688 hands today but im not sure i should play more. at least not right now.
my monthly total is now 2483$
sounds like u are hitting a bit of varience. if u still feel good about you game keep playing and maybe tighten up and chose spots with less varience and lower your expectations.
otherwise just take a break as u are doing well this month over all anyway.

yeah i guess i brought the variance on myself really, by playing with such big stacks, even if it was just against fish. im a bit spooked that my ev line and donk factor are below b/e as well this past while but i guess that could be due to several factors.
i do still feel good about my game and i will definately be playing again tomorrow but if things dont change soon i will take a break as you suggest.

For me $500 lose is somewhat regular to me now. It is actually my stop lose and as soon as I an lossing this amount I am forced to take a break. Lossing this amount seems like to me now. What I am doing is that I just need to be focused on the next session and hoping to recover the losses. Most of my session lately is all about recovering the losses I made on the early part and it sucks. This is the reason I took a break yesterday and earlier today.
Good luck on your games and I know you can easily reach your goal for this month.

I am taking a short break right now. I had two big losses right after midnight and I feel like I wll be chasing losses after that and I do not want it to happen. Elephant shows I am losing -$110 in just 25 hands. I just need to freshen up and continue in a few minutes.
I did win before midnight. I have won $247 in 265 hands. There were few tables in NL400 and I end up playing two tables in NL600 and I just dump -$140 chips there.

i had a profitable day today, thank god. i made a few mistakes that cost me a bit but i am fairly happy about today anyway. it really feels like a stone is lifted off my heart each time a have a profitable session these days.
i finished on 233$ today.
i was even running quite above ev line and donk factor but i didnt feel particularly lucky.
my non SD winnings were unacceptable today but i was also pretty card dead on the higher limit tables so i lost a lot to blinds.. i played a few hands at a nl1k table because it was a bit loose. i think i will start using nl1k tables like i use nl600 tables: sit down at them when i see particularly loose aggressive action and leave when its over.
maybe you should do the same?

i have come to the decision to take a break. i am tilting too much and too easily these days and making some very bad decisions so i dont think its profitable to play right now. i cant say if the break will be for just a few days or for the rest of the month or even for longer. i might also cash out the majority of my BR and start over from nl200 and build up some confidence again when i return. im not sure.
i lost 550$ today. i ran very bad but i also made some very poor decisions.
this brings my monthly total excl. RB to ~1900$
and incl RB ~3000$.
it hasnt been a disastrous month but i think it would be if i continued.
sorry for pulling out of the race like this but i think it's safe to say that you would have won anyway the way you have been playing. so bragging rights are certainly yours

looking at your graph u were running above ev and now during this period your ev is converging with your winnings line. this means u are running bad, getting out drawn and have the second best hand a lot. its not due to how u are playing but u do need to adjust your game until this phase passes and it will.
i just went through a short phase(2 weeks) like this where my ev was really awefull and i ran bad. i still managed to make profit but at a slower rate than normal.
during this time i tightened up, i reacted fast so i didnt lose too much. I played less agressive preflop and only about 50% of the hands i usually play, this took a lot of patience and discipline considering my vpip and pfr dropped to 2/3 their normal values. I never put money into the pot unless i was pretty sure i was ahead. this gave me an a solid basis to play at least so i ended up winning more of the pots i was all in for while still getting sucked out alot also. the end result was break even or win 1-2 buyins per session. I took it as a mental test to beat varience by adjustment and it worked well.
it was normal enough to go 3-5 buyins down pretty fast in sessions like this but the key thing was to keep faith and remain solid and it did turn around eventually with a lot of patience and went just slightly positive again in the end of each session.
these periods dont last forever thankfully and its equally important to losen up when u feel you are running ok again. poker is a dynamic game and its as important to adjust to varience as it is everything else or at least this is how im finding it.
2-3 months a go i would have lost a chunk of my bankroll to this varience, now i feel i have an extra weapon in my arsenal and can adjust to varience better.
my graph shows it well. the 1st period where im just keeping my head above water so have to play really tight. the 2nd period i feel im running ok again so i losen up and can play freely again.

it does and i think you are partly right. much of my losses is due to variance. but some of it is due to greed, and taking needless risks and just tilt in general.
i do need a break. im out of control right now. i need to get the losses at a distance. i think when i return i will play nl200 for a while because i beat that easily so that will give me confidence and teach me to be happy with small winnings again. and then later add some nl400 and nl600 tables again.
basically i just need to get my mentality and my game under control again.
i guess its harder to control your own psychology the higher u play and u need to ground yourself one of the reasons i havent moved up yet as i have so little experience in general and just learning how to handle these things well.

ok Raun, I myself with this kind of downswing will also take a break. I hope you can quickly find your leak so that you can be back on the winning track.
My computer crashed last Friday and my younger brother just fixed my computer today so I was not able to play any online game since then. I end up playing some live games last night and managed to get some small winnings. I say that I am already rusty with it and live game seems too slow now.
