In no particular order Pulp Fiction Oldboy Once upon a time in America (De Niro's best performance imo) Aliens Primer - One of the best sc fi films ever made.Only cost like 10k to make Honorable mentions Muholland drive LostHighway Only David Lynch can put a bunch of actors in ridiculous rabbit suits and make it disturbing as hell.Genius director,suprisingly Dune was a huge miss

Superhero movie - DARK KNIGHT. Nothing else is close.

Fantasy movie - Lord of the Rings. It's all one movie as far as I'm concerned. the split is for convenience sake.

Historical epic - El Cid. Charlton Heston is a stud, and Sophia Loren looks smokin' hot. Great epic in the classic 50's style.

War movie - Saving Private Ryan. No other movie so graphically shows the horror of war, or the camaraderie that military service inspires. Thought about Schindler's List, but that is not really a traditional war movie. Also, if Band of Brothers were a movie, it would win, hands down.

General movie - The Godfather (all 3). De Niro, Pacino, Duvall, Brando, a host of supporting actors that were all at the top of their games for this epic trilogy.

I was thinking about this thread yesterday... I would like to proffer "Watchmen" as a worthy addition.
