dont open limp at lvl 50. you actually dont have the implied odds to call for set value when he makes it 200.

i would raise from this position on a tight table.

on this hand you basically put almost half your stack in the middle (by calling) with a mid pair on a draw heavy board...

basically raise pre and take it from there.

with 40bb left I feel very comfortable to open limp w/ middle pair from MP, post-flop I can easily control size of the pot just using check/call in this spot, and also see my edit in my 1st post

the problem with open limping at this level is when you are raised by someone with 28BB you no longer have the required implied odds to continue in the hand playing for set value only.

you just get into horrible spots where you dont know where you are at and you end up wasting a lot of chips mid game trying to find out. you need to be in pots with aggression and a strong hand so it is very straight forward and you dont have to agonize over hard decisions like this.

remember gaining chips helps us less than losing chips hurts us.

raising 99 here is fine. but playing this passively oop and without initiative is going to get you in a lot of horrible spots where you end up just guessing whether you are good or not.

I always raise here with 99 otherwise the rest of it stands true.

As played river's a check/call but the rest is fine.

BTW I'd say preflop... raise to 150 > fold > call
