This was in a $0,25 45 player sng. Well it's actualy pretty standard. I'm just wondering, would it be smart to make these kind of plays often? I mean i knew if someone would bet i would fold it. (i 12 table). So instead i decided to make a nice continuation bet and if they didn't have a QQ they'd probably fold. Or do you think i''m taking to big risks here? risking almost half my stack with just A-k high..

One thing; It's not a continuation bet as you wern't the PF raiser, it's a donk bet :)

Dunno exactly how the strategy should change from single table SNG's to 45's, but In this spot it depends on the villain.. Normally I would just c/f when I miss. He has to fold fairly often to make it +EV and you don't have to risk anything with 20BB's behind if you give it up on the flop.

And BTW, it is actually known as a donk bet... I'm pretty sure previous poster doesn't mean to be disrespectful.

Also, I agree with him, I'd check/fold.

you have a starting stack of 22BB. you can profitably push pre flop with AK and pick up a pot worth 1/4 your stack.

flat calling when stacks are this shallow us usually a mistake. you want to reshove or fold with ~20bb after someone has opened the pot. and your range will depend on his opening range.

AKs is a reshove vs anyone here.

as played : c/f

Well the problem is, i've been running like shit lately. And i just keep missing the flop over and over. Losing tons of chips when i could take them by being agressive.

And yeah i didn't notice the pot was actualy big enough to reshove. That would have actualy been the best play.

And yeah it isn't a continuation bet i just noticed it. But it isn't a donk bet. it's a 2/3 pot sized bet on a good board. Which is a profitable play imo, as people will fold anything unless they have a queen or KK/AA in which case i would have been in big trouble anyway.

I didn't say it was a donky move or that it wasn't a good line, but making a bet into the aggressor is named a "donk bet"

No offence meant :)

That's what I told him. BTW, <3, even when the raiser is utg do you think it's still profitable to push? Isn't his range very small here?

a 'donk' bet is a bet in which is made by the non-pre-flop aggressor when he acts before the pre-flop aggressor. That is what this term means.

Let me make it very very clear. Making this bet (called a donk bet) is the absolute worst possible play you can make on the flop. You are throwing 1/3 your stack into the middle on a bluff which will very rarely work. Your flop line should be c/f always.

However, pushing pre flop is the correct play as i already stated previously.

Yes,

remember this is a micro-stakes game and you will rarely find truly tight players who understand what they should be raising from which position.

Also AKs is an extremely strong hand and you will need a very good reason to fold it pre flop, especially with 22BB. and an unknown player raising 3x UTG on a 25c game isnt a good enough reason to fold AKs with a 22BB starting stack.

Gee, thanks... Didn't see it was a $0.25 tourney. Definitely agree.
