So this is really about a specific situation. Where when you bet, you basicaly bet so much you commit yourself all in(Which is what you want to do). But if you go all in The bet is really big vs the pot. Or the other way around, Should you put someone all in even if they basicaly are pot commited if they call even though the bet is big. I will post some examples or not

So on the turn, when i bet he only has 200 chips left if he calls. Ofcourse a decent player would just shove it all in there or fold it. But should i have just put him all in even though the bet would have been like a 90% of the potsize bet ?

Here's another one of those situations. But instead of betting a decent amount like 700 i just decided to shove immediatly and not be left with 600 chips. Although my shove was about 30% bigger then the potsize Which is obviously quite daunting. There is no way im folding after putting like 70% of my chips on the flop, but would it still be better to just best more then half your stack instead of shoving?

So i'm really wondering about this. The problem is, these players are pretty bad and will call for example a bet of 90% of their stack instead of just shoving it all in.

@Hand 1:
If you are going to push/bet the river every time the :diamond:flush doesn't complete (or the board pairs up) you could bet higher on the turn to get an easier decission on the river.. And the times a scarecard shows up on the river you will still not have comitted yourself if villain makes a fancy shove.

@Hand 2: You don't really have to protect about anything at this board, so betting like ½-potsize on the flop and pushing the last in on the turn could be a better way to extract some value from random Kx hands.

I actualy didn't put him on a flush in hand one. I thought he probably had QJ, QK, QK. So i don't think i should have bet even more, when you see the results. He probably had a flush draw.

The thing is i get so annoyed when people just call my bet and then suckout on me.. When i was going to go all in either way. I don't think i lose value against these fish by shoving all in, if they had a king they'd probably have called anyway.

Anyway more opinions on if betting more then a potsize bet is ok if it pretty much ends in the same result on the next street.

Oversize betting can definately be used in some occassions.. Personally I like to use them as valuebets/protection bets on drawy/semi drawy boards vs callingstations, and even once in a while as a semi bluff with a draw vs. tight villains

I'd like to have another opinion on this. I didn't see another situation like this today, But i'd still like to know what the best way to handle them would be.

it often depends what type of player you are playing against and what your hand is.

with a strong made hand that you will never be folding. such as a flush, FH, set etc... you should make a standard value-bet of 1/2-2/3 pot, often this will give bad players the illusion that they have fold equity when they shove over you. You can get more value out of your strong hands by sticking to standard value betting instead of over-betting the pot. This will often work against bad players.

With a decent TPTK, two pair or set on a draw heavy board you often want to try and maximize the value you can get right now while you are certain your hand is good. Also if, you are unsure of what to do on later streets if a scare card hits, but you want to go all the way with the hand, then shoving is the best option.

If you are shoving for 2x pot then you are just wasting value. it is ok to over-bet shove a little more than pot up to say 1.5x pot. but if you start shoving way more than pot you will just lose a lot of value in the long run.

ps. in both hands i like your bet sizing.

Hi all,

Raise to something like 150 on the flop in the first hand... betsizing for the rest is fine.

I'd prefer betting 400 on the flop in the second hand than jamming outright. You have really shallow stacks so it's no problem getting the money in on later streets
