Situation: Nl100 HU you play villain on two tables, he's a solid player, nothing too out of line 3bets let's say ~10%, raises button 70% for 3x bb, folds ~65 to 3bets etc. You win 400$ off him and suddenly he starts 3betting ~30%, opening ~90% for various amouns from 3x to let's say 5x, doesn't fold to 3bets anymore. It's pretty obvious that he wants to play higher variance, spewy poker and if you continue being as aggro as possible, you actually do what he wants and that's not annoying. So the most annoying adjustment now would be something like start open limping some % of the time and when you open raise, minraise instead of 3x. Now you try to keep the pots as small as possible and that's exact opposite of what your opponent wants to do, that's why it's annoying and is very likely to induce monster tilt.
This example isn't very good for husngs i guess, but i said already that idk much about those.
Let's say a situation:
You dominate the opponent, he's pushed in a corner and starts to play back in stupid spots, this happens by mid game, effective stack ~20-25BB. Normally, I'll be raising to 2.5x BB by then, and hit 33% of flops if he'll start to reraise/flop with low pairs or air I'll be put in very marginal spots and, I think, I'll lose edge I have over opponent.
Could you comment if I'm thinking wrong or missing something in this thought process ? I think I do understand why it works in cash, but not sure for sng
If opponent starts check raising much then sure the best adjustment would be to start checking back more flops and going for delayed cbets, taking more flop pot control lines with weak second pair/third pair/Ahi, sometimes Khi stuff.
Anyway, i wouldn't advice to start giving up flops until you really start noticing that someone is playing back at you, force them to start playing back or get ran over.
Phil Galfond said that most people seem to go on passive tilt instead of aggressive, so people won't start playing back as often as you think.
Oh and if someone makes a reraise (or smth like that) in spot where you have been aggressive a lot doesn't mean he's necessarily playing back.
Also, why HUD is necessary? by now there are handful of regs who have +roi, who I avoid and who avoid me, others are usually fish that I meet once or twice at all or regs down 1-3k and play just so bad it's not even funny anymore. Or, again, I'm missing something else
Well, yeah, it's more useful for cash, but if you multitable husngs it's useful too, it will help you not get lost between players. It sure is possible to play without it, but having it should improve your winrate at least a little and little means a lot in the long run.
