[Closed] K.O Journies through 90plr SNG's

Today i got a little ahead of myself. I am playing with a lot of confidence as of late, but today that confidence cost me. I decided that i would try to play 6 games at a time, since playing 4 at a time is working well. Those extra 2 take time away from watching how others are playing at my tables and the end result is that i don't watch any game with any great detail.
This imo cost me getting to the final table in 2 tournaments that i should have. I know that in cards just about anything can happen and usually does, but i had large chip stacks in the final 18 of these 2 tables but lost it all to just lack of focus.
The first table i 3bet/called an all in flop w/ only top pr/top kicker. Usually to a 4bet all-in, tptk is not that strong when there are only 16plrs remaining, and still would have had over 9k in chips.
Whoops.

I also played the 2 Early Double tournaments, not much success, was out in 1000th, and 475th. The 475th place was quite the struggle as well. Managed to slowly build my chip stack up and the turning point was an A9s vs AQo. Villian had the AQ, he was the bb. Hand went like this.
There was a limper from mp, and i was the CO w/ A9s, bb raised it to 3xbb, and we both called. Flop was 389, bb checked, mp checked, i lead out for 1/2 pot, bb reraised to full pot, mp folded, and i ended up calling. Turn was a 10 and donk bet all-in. Now since i didn't know what his hand was at the time, i ended up calling him as i didn't put him on a 10 or a higher pp. Unfortunately he got lucky and hit the Q on the river. That hand left me with only 65 chips and the blinds were 120. I did manage to double up twice and eventually get back to over 2000 chips and managed to get to top 475 but that is were the story ends. If only had won that hand would have had over 11k in chips and would have been in the top 30 but.........

So here are the results for the rest of the day.

9 games @ the $3-with 1 4th place finish
2 games @ the $6-with only 3 KO's
2 games @ the $5- MTT's as mentioned above.

Hey SamBurton5 and Lindberg789. I would suggest starting off with at least a 100bb's, but i asked the same question and was told that you should have at least 200bb's. I am not moving up until i have 200bb's for the $6. I do play at least 1 $6 game a day though.

As mentioned above i did manage to make a little money today. But the day as a whole was not a good one.
I am making to many mistakes, these mistakes are usually costing me a large chunk of my chips, so i need to spot them before i put my chips in.

Enough about that, the good news is that i put in a whole day of cards in. I played a total of 25 tournaments.

19 of these were the $3 KO's, 2 of them were the $6 KO's, 2 were the $5 Early Doubles and 1 was a $2 MTT and 1 was a $3 MTT.

Like i said the good news was that i played a lot, the bad news was that i played most of them poorly that i was able to play that many tournies.

The MTT's i played especially poorly, not much to mention about those. Sometimes i wonder what goes through my head when i play them.

The $3 KO's are the only ones that i made it to the final tables in. I finished 2nd twice and finished 9th once.
Should have made at least 1 more in the money, and the 9th position was a horrible finish as i was 2nd in chips when i started the final table.

Well that about raps up my day until tomorrow.

Managed to put in another full day, just under 8 hrs of play. Need to get an air conditioner, heat wave is making me see cards that aren't there. lol

Today was the first time in a long time that i had a misclick of the mouse, and the misclick knocked me out of the tourny. Whoops. The funny part was that i was ahead with just the river card to come, i meant to fold but i called his all-in. I only had a pp, a measly pair of 2's and the board was straight drawing and flush drawing, so after some thought i figured i would fold and save the 4k in chips i still had left, but the heat got to me and i ended up calling. Next time.

Today, overall went well. The only thing that kind of got under my skin was when i was dealt K's. I know why complain about getting K's, it is not really the K's that bothered me, i wish i had K's a lot more, but the frustrating part was that on 2 separate occasions i set up such a beautiful trap and they both failed. On the one occasion i flop a set with my K's, i was in the small blind, HU against the button who was playing me rather aggressively.
The flop came K106, i lead out with a bet and he reraised me all-in, needless to say i was very happy to oblige him and immediately called. Did i happen to mention that there was only 10 players left.
When his cards were shown, he had AJo, any guesses what happened to come out on the turn, of course the only card that would give him the winning hand, a Q. Now i was not out but i only had enough for 1bb and there was an ante, so i was out the very next hand on the bubble, instead of the chip leader.

Poker sometimes makes me want to scream.

Pretty close to what happened with the other K's, up against an aggressive player, flop came 1094, i lead out, i was utg and dude reraises all-in, so i call and he shows A10, what a knuckle head, but he would have the last laugh as the A hits on the turn. Grrrrrrr.

That's enough complaining because for the most part the day went well. I played a total of 18 tournies today.

I played 16@$3 90plr KO's
1 @$3 MTT KO and 1 @$5 MTT KO with poor results, my fault completely. Need to work on changing my game as they tend to play very differently then the double stack games i am used to.

The good news was that i made it to the final table in 4 of the 16 90plr KO's. I managed to place 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th.

Also on a completely different note, when i was checking out a player on SharkScope, his 1 stat was crazy, he had played a total of over 40k tournies. Was quite impressed, and was also a winning player. I don't find to many of those when i check players out.

Pocket K's starting to give me a headache. Flopped a set and still end up losing the hand to a straight. He had pocket Q's. But for all my complaining about losing with a set, starting to seem like a bad dream, i do manage to give out a few bad beats as well.
I am sure it all works out in the end.

The day started out just terrible, i am going to use the blistering heat as my excuse but it was truly just lazy playing. After about 3 1/2 hrs of crap poker, and a bunch of poor results, it was time to get some lunch and refocus my poker skills to unleash them on the unsuspecting players.
Lunch wasn't even that good and i made it.

The break certainly did the trick. 3 of the next 4 tournaments that i played in i reached the final table. One of the final tables was probably the hardest group of players that i have played against. But i did manage to finish 3rd. The final 3 of us were pretty close in chips with about 70-80k. I really enjoyed that game just wish i could have won it.

So here are the results of today's games.

I played a total of 20 MTT's, 19 of these were my regular games and 1 was a $3 MTT. I was knocked out of the big MTT after flopping 2 pr on the flop but unfortunately someone flopped a set, and that was the end of that.

I made the money in 4 of my regular specialty games, 1 3rd, 2 4ths and 1 crappy 9th. I also had a total of 26 KO's.

That about raps things up for the day, off to watch the world cup. GO GERMANY ♦

Today i was called a cheater and an idiot. Now i have been called an idiot before, sometimes card players can be kind of nasty, but a cheater. REALLY.

Let me explain how it came to be. I was in a hand, it was a 4 way hand and 1 player was all-in. He only had around 1200 chips and the blinds were around 100/200. I was in an early position i raised as i had 9's, i caller had a big chip stack and was calling just about every hand and don't remember what the other dude had.

The flop came j44, since i was first to act, i moved all-in, i had around 3k in chips remaining and the pot was 3600. The other 2 players folded. The player who was all-in showed his cards and he had JQ, so needless to say he took the pot. Well that's when the name calling started. You're an idiot, learn how to play cards, etc. Well i got kind of annoyed and replied "Why wouldn't i move all-in", i figured i had the best hand with that flop, so why should i let someone catch up and take down the pot, when i probably have much better odds HU, and as for learning how to play i said No one at this table has close to the stats that i do, so i am pretty sure i know how to play.
When a player told me to check out his stats i did, and told him he is not even in the same league of playing that i am. Yes sometimes i get a little cocky.
Shortly after that comment someone check out my stats, and my stats are pretty good.

I have a ROI of over 60% with over 500 games played. So that's when someone called me a cheater. Said it was statically impossible to have those stats without cheating. And then a few more players starting jumping on "bashing saywhat27" and saying that they would close my account, and that cheaters always get caught.etc.

And then the next hand i was knocked out AQ vs A4, i had the AQ. And then a few more LOL were typed out.

This all started because they didn't like the fact that i went all-in, so i could get HU against the Short Stack.
Needless to say I don't and never will cheat, but it kind of got under my skin, hence the reason i am writing this.

Ok, got that off my chest. F#@%ing people.

Well, my day didn't go very well today. I played a total of 16 games today, just the regular 90plr sng's and only managed to get to the final table once. I was knocked out on the bubble twice.
I placed 5th and only had 13KO's. So that's my rant for the day.

It has been about a week since i last updated, so here is the update. I have been on a bit of a losing trend. The trend started on July 8, i had just started for the day and started getting dizzy and couldn't keep my head up to pay attention to what was happening at the tables. I only had 5 games going at the time, but i couldn't get knocked off fast enough. Because i couldn't concentrate on the tables i figured i shouldn't be playing. I spent the next 45 min in the shower suffering from heat exhaustion.
July 9-12 played about 2-3 hrs a day but was not really playing very well, i did manage to get to the money in a couple of tournaments but i did end up losing about 15-20 buy-ins over that same time.
I also played a little bit of cash games and of course i lost 2 buy-in's, 10NL, just to get a $19 bonus, that didn't work out well. I am terrible at cash games, both times i had AQ, flopped top pair and lost to sets both times. Such is poker.

Then i spent the next few days fishing, now i don't know if you can call it fishing if you don't catch anything, 3 days no fish, i am usually surrounded by fish at the tables but when it comes to catching them, not my strong point.

So now that i am all refreshed and feeling better, it is time to get back to the tables.

The last couple of days have been going well. They might have been going great but sometimes things don't always work out.

Over the last 2 days i have played a total of 19 games, 18 of those were my regular game and 1 was a $10+1 MTT.
So here are some interesting results. Of those 18 regular games i busted out on the bubble 3 times, , once in 11th, 14th and 15th, that could really have boosted my BR.
The good news is that of those 18 games i did manage to make it to the final table 5 times. I finished 8th, 5th, 3rd , 2nd and won one tournament. So as i said earlier good things are happening. Must admit, it felt good winning a tournament as it has been a while. ♦

I am still trying to get a sweat session going with someone but no one is jumping up to partner with, but i will keep trying. I have even been trying to talk to some of the regulars who i think have good stats as well. Who knows, if i don't ask i will never know. So that wraps up this session.

Hey, I have been following this thread, and have, as a result, tried out these KO tourneys. Must say, they are fishfests. I have noticed you on my table once, I even lost against you in the latter stages. Needless to say, I can understand your play.

This isn't, of course, true of most opponents here. It is astounding to me how readily people want to go broke, not only in the early stages, but mid and late stages as well. I once pushed on a bigstack, who had limped, with my 17BB, which is way too much, while holding AKs, because I knew he would call his any two. He did, with 37o. Even though I knew he was bad, I didn't know he was actually that bad. He did, naturally, hit two pair, but the good thing is, he probably still doesn't know that he lost.

I find this can be very frustrating, because it seems to happen over and over. Then, I look at my ROI, which I find to be similar to yours, even though my sample is still only 200 or so games. I really can't complain about that.

I would never actually engage in verbal exchanges with most of the people who play these tourneys. I can't think like them, don't want to. A wise man once said, don't cast your pearl before swine, lest they grind them underfoot, then turn again to rend you. The point being, beasts have no respect for wisdom, and can't in fact even detect it. They won't love you for trying to show them. It won't be them that suffer any psychological backlash after the mob attack.

I am wondering if you use HEM, or some other tracking/HUD software? I don't think it is necessary, particularly at this level, because you can mostly disregard all your opponents, and play value poker. However, because of that fact, I find that often I go deep with a marginal stack. I don't seem to find spots to outplay weaker opponents, because of their penchant for calling off for stacks with their random holdings. My stack dwindles, push/fold comes much too early, and fold equity is something I once read about, but have yet to see very much of.

What are your plans for moving up to the $6.5 level? I can't imagine that it is going to be a whole lot better there. You seem to be way successfull enough for it. I plan to move up once the roll reaches $1350, which would be 200 BI, which I think more than adequate.

Hit a milestone today, i now have over 1k in my account, just barely but finally. It seems as though it has taken a really long time, but the smile was from ear to ear and i raised my arms in a silent celebration. ♦ ♦

So here how the day went, i played a total of 19 tournaments, 17 of those were my regular games, 1 was a Sat to Event #11 which i really want to play, and 1 was a MTT, $3 buy-in.

The Sat, i was absolutely brutal, i think i made as many mistakes as possible, was very disappointed in my play. I really hate throwing away money, and that is exactly what i did. It was brutal. The next time i will be much better and i will win my ticket.

The MTT was a little disappointing, i didn't really play that bad, it started out so good. My first hand was dealt Q's, was a limper, i raised 5xbb, 3 callers, flop came 33Q, with 2 spades, ♦, first limper bet 1/2 pot, call, i called, and then guy to my left went all-in, limper called all-in,fold and needless to say i happily called. There hands were flush draw and pocket 7's. First hand and i was chip leader, but that was the end of the good cards.
I scraped and clawed my way so close to the money but finished 7 places short. So close but i did manage to knock out 5 players, so i only lost .80 cents for playing the tournament.

My regular games went well. I managed to get to the money in 4 of those games. I finished 6th, 3rd, and had two 1st place finishes. ♦

So that's my wrap up of my play.

Thanks for reading aciddrop, i will be looking for you on the tables. You are so correct about how bad some of these players really are. I have lost many pots against just absolutely retarded hands, i have lost with A's to 27s. I also lost 3 times tonight after flopping trip A's, to J7o, he stayed in the hand because the flop came 3 hearts and he had the 7, no other draw or pr, just retarded. I try to just laugh now when the beat is just so awful, what else can you do.
I do not use any type of tracking/HUD software, i am sure it would be of some help and i do intend to use it when i purchase a new computer, but that is not for at least a couple of months, but i only play 4 tables at a time so i am able to closely watch each game. I do check out 5 players a day on Sharkscope and write notes about them in the space provided on FT.
When it gets later in the tournaments i tend to be a little more aggressive otherwise the stack does start to dwindle, but only when i am in position. Fold equity for the most part is just an urban legend at these levels.

I plan on moving up when i have $1200 in the account, i did play a few games at the $6 level and the play was very similar, have won a couple already. I am looking forward to moving up and having continued success, and thank-you for the ♠_cool: , it completely made my day.

My fiance had to go to another province to work for 2 weeks and during the middle of the 2nd week told me that our 7 year relationship was over. Nothing like getting dumped over the phone after 7 years. Then for the following 5 days our conversations were mainly by e-mail, so for about 1 week she left me in the dark as to why. Sometimes life just kicks you in the balls. She never like that i played poker and at every opportunity would tell me how much she hated it, even though i was consistently making money as any one who has read the blog so far would have known.
So i have decided to give it up, at least for some time. Its hard to get the bug out of your system permanently.
So that's it. Fucking woman.

Sry to hear about your problems I hope you get it all better and continue with your poker progress as you are doing really fine.I rarely write on any blog's but i'd have to add that it's more about your fiance being not right towards you.As it might be a really though situation as it looks like I have had always the thinking that if someone wants to be with you she/he will always respect your activities and your points of view.That being said i also experienced same kind of a problem but as I am still 19 years old it's far aways from thinking about fiance,but still I'm watching how people start to act like frustrated when i mention poker and stuff about it as for me this is a great work for the brain,as i've always been rethinking strategies,looking deep into hands and most of the psychology of the players which i find to be very interesting as their behaviour dictactes their gameplay.Hope you get it all fine best of luck

Wow. Here I was, ready to make another entry in the blog, my shift work roster having come to an end for eight days, nicely rested, and about to say, yeah, a sweat session, fantastic idea.

And somebody has your nuts in a grinder.

Take some time and get through this. Seven years of life that turns out not to be what you thought it was. Like slamming headfirst into a wall at 100MPH, then bouncing off the edge of a cliff, no bottom in sight. Not easy, but definitely finite.

About your fiance, I could only say that decisions like she has made aren't usually sudden, so she has probably been working to it for a while, and the break made saying it possible. That won't make it any less shitty.

About you I can say that through your experience of poker, as you've related it here, you are capable of balanced and sound decision making. You are +ev. I know after doing this for a couple of years that the kind of people I prefer around me are those who are capable of that kind of decision making. And when you have spent some time making those decisions consciously, it automatically and inevitably crosses over into real life situations. Willful self destruction becomes a real bad taste, so I know you will work this out.

Thanks for the posts. It certainly put a smile on my face and i definitely needed that. Life can be so unpredictable but it must go on.
Poker is something that i enjoy and i am reasonably good at it so why would i give it up. I have goals to reach and i will reach them.
I have just deposited some monies back on to Full Tilt, no where near where i was but i climbed the ladder once and will do it again. Back to the grind.

I intend to take the $95 i deposited and will have $25k in the account by the end of next year. I have already started back at the $3 90plr sng's and have a 1st, and 3rd place finish on the first day. I know i am not playing by the proper BR but i find these games fairly soft and as of right now am not that concerned, time will prove whether this is a good idea or not.
