[Closed] $50 Starting on Low Fixed Limit with a Long Term Tournament Millions Goal

I have had an awesome few days; I have come out every day for the 3 days with more in the positive!
I have been reading A LOT and watching the videos and really concentrating on my game, plus I don’t look at my BR anymore whilst I play, only after I finish each session and I also have been only playing in good positions of the really high average pot and players/flop tables and its paying off.

Current BR: $101.55 (finally into the trip digits mark! Over 100% profit too seeing as I started with $50 ♦)

Current VPPs/FFPs: 302 (so about 38 from my next $10 bonus too)

It’s still a good day; I’m up to $108 now! I was breaking even a bit earlier but then had some good wins, 25% of which was from some Russian supernova who came on a few tables of .1/.2 FL with $1000 on each and was very aggressive with anything so I made some good money off him when I could, he must have just been bored or something but what’s a tiny loss to him is a nice improvement to my BR so I’m happy! ♦

Edit: Oh also, I have decided to make my moving up a limit BR 400x the BB rather than the 300x I had been doing before, simply so I have more to lay back on for the first trials of .25/.5 if I lose too much at first. I font really want to stay on a lower limit any longer than I have to but I also don’t want to have to move back down if I don’t have to, any thoughts?

re moving up at a more conservative BR, totally up to you! It depends on how easily you can live with moving down.. being honest, it shouldn't bother you at the micros.. I would (and sometimes do) start to apply a more conservative BRM around the $1/$2+ threshhold.

Try and think of it in the sense that it doesn't matter really what limit you're playing until you're playing something you deem significant (I have two personally significant tiers - $2/$4 and $5/$T). Playing at anything below a meaningful limit is kinda irrelevant as the general standard is generally poor and you're learning your craft anyway, so the results don't really matter. Ofc that relies on being (mostly) ambivalent to movements up or down in limit and for me has developed as the result of experiencing months of swings I didn't handle well.

I didn’t want to scare anyone off as you can see but I got a good pot for it anyway thanks to some fish who I knew would raise just about anything.

Anyway so I am now up to $122.78 which is my highest point so far, I think Waiboy is right that the limits I am playing right now are pretty irrelevant as far as making money goes so I think I will go up to .25/.5 at $150BR or 300x bb as I feel confident that my current skills and learning are enough to beat it (I have been watching tables on that limit too and they are just as bad as they are on my limit now, just there are more off them!)

Ok wow, I have just discovered something awesome (didn’t really discover it, more verified it to myself as I got the tip from another blog), I just played 67 hands which took about 20 minutes on my limit, I started at 23:50 GMT and found an INSANE amount of fish, people calling/raising then reraising everywhere! Which means I did my best ever run of $6.46 or around 100bb/100hands.

Still can’t believe how fast that was, I think I will make sure to play every night at this time as it will get me up the limits like 10x faster!!

Anyway so BR now: $129.24 (only about $20 to go before I move up to .25/.5! ♦ )

Ok it’s been a little while since my last post but that would be because I had a downswing and felt a little disheartened. It started off as simply variance being a bitch, but after it happened for two days straight it took its toll on me and I went on a majored tilt.

Because of going on tilt I found myself calling with things like A7s and even K4s once to try and hit a flush (which of course I didn’t) but a flush was really my only out and a K high one probably wouldn’t win it for me anyway so big big mistake.

Anyway I was up to $133 but went down to $122. I have started to climb again and am now on $128.

I have learnt a lot as it was my biggest tilt to date, despite being still on tilt I managed to pull myself away from the tables before I lost more the first day, then on the second I played whilst feeling good and just kept on playing correctly despite still losing until the third day when I started to move up again.
So I feel more confident now that I can stand up and walk away from poker when I am not feeling good

I have had an awesome day today, I made a total of $13 which on FL 0.10/0.20 is pretty good and my biggest win in a day so far. In actual fact it only brings me up to a total BR of $126.15 as I was been on a major losing streak where every second day I made a loss it seemed. I did play right though, I have been able keep my cool and not once look at my graph or BR despite feeling the urge to look up to heaven and cry out ‘WHY GOD, WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME, WHYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!’ and I don’t even believe in god lol.

So total BR: $126.15

Total VVPs/FFPs: 405 (which means 5 more until next $10 bonus)

I have also done a lot of thinking as I didn’t understand just why I was losing every second day this week when for the month before I had had mostly winning days (even if sometimes only by a little bit) and I realised a pattern when I found myself losing... low concentration. I noticed that if I put my whole attention on the tables without having one eye on the TV or talking to someone else then I win most sessions overall. Sounds kind of obvious I know, but as I realised this the hard way (by losing 15% of my BR) I will know only play when I can and am willing to put my entire attention on poker.

Ok another awesome day, up $10 on my poker plus another $10 from my deposit bonus which brings my total BR up to $146.43! biggest so far too, and not far away from finally going up to .25/.50 which I have been looking forward to for ages now!!

One just crushing hand I had was this, I feel for the guy, I mean I have been there before, well all poker players have but well I won and I don’t feel bad for that lol.
