hello,
I played a to high tournament once, and for the same reason as you. You think, but IF i win this....
But,
I got unlucky, no cards, and realized that this is a normal thing to happen, and that the brm is also written for me. And you have to make a RULE, EVERY game higher then xxxx is NOT FOR ME.
Reminds me of the time I smoked A LOT of weed in highschool. Highschool was peanuts to me, so I spend every day smoking weed. But at some point I just realized, this is NOT FOR ME (anymore), and now i'm off it for more then a year. Not because smoking weed in general is bad, or because i was addicted (i wasn't) but because i don't want it anymore. So you have to reach a status where your want for higher limits is just not there anymore.
Poker is gambling, unless you stick to a very disciplined brm, gambling is addictive/attractive, so if you don't have money for gambling, don't do it. It might be harder for some people then for others, but the earlier you find out that gambling is not for you, the easier it is to quit.
And now i can smoke weed once a month without creating these patterns again, so yes you can visit a casino with friends, and play blackjack if you would dig that, but you just have to be disciplined enough not to use it as a way to win money (back!).
It's like the beer you drink once a week, or maybe twice. You shouldn't drink more then you can afford, both financially, physically and mentally.
