if he checks river I would make a small bet or call if he bets

I like it as played.
Checking behind the turn is definatly an option aswell.. you're only getting value from pocket pairs, I'm not sure if you can get 3 streets of value from those anyway. I think I prefer the small bet on turn and if he calls a small bet on river.

post-flop is bet/bet/bet over-pair is the nuts even on this board.
