Still struggling to find solutions to my $$$ oriented mindset problems ...

I've been having the best month I've ever had so far thx to pwning
my limits and finally running good too.

Which actually is somewhat of a problem ...

Coz rapid increase in $$$ = rapid decline in volume

I haven't put in this low volume since ... well never basically

Winning a lot of $$$ causes me to quit my sessions early ...
Before I kinda fixed it by not looking @HEM - worked wonders.

BUT, now that I moved up, I can't NOT look @HEM cause
I have to know where my roll stands at and I have to know if and when I need to move back down ...

Any ideas? :f_confused: :f_mad:

let me put things into perspective for u:

:diamond: u started playing srsly 10 weeks ago. soon u will play nl100. most plrs dont get so far in their poker "career"

:diamond: your life will change in a positive way. not specifically due to the $$$, but $$$ help a lot in living the life we want to

:diamond: u have a pretty sick coach & an even sicker studying partner at your side

:diamond: u run at ev

... still u see problems ....

a) wtf? dont be a pussy. just because the numbers are a bit bigger on your screen/cashier, doesnt change all that much

b) positive attitude > all. if u even see problems now, u have a serious problem sir :f_p:

c) its only a card game. dont overcomplicate things. do your thing. play according to your schedule, continue working like u did so far. even thinking about excuses why u dont want to play more is pussystyle.

d) read my next blog entry, maybe it will help u to see the big picture

payce out. keep on crushing :f_cool:

Yes, sir ! _biggrin:

Perspective's good ... I guess I've been so excited about my
rapid improvement and didn't want this sexyness to end bad ...
So I could finally start livin' a bit.

BUT, since not playing isn't really gonna solve or change anything ...
And the cards will fall as they please, which is smth I cannot change anyway.

All I should be thinking about is like you said - keeping up the good work, drilling our collective brains and ... the inevitable will manifest eventually _cool:

Lol, can't help but wonder that you have been waiting for the perfect moment to put this in a sentence :) Great blog, great progress. btw, when you say you stop playing once you've won a lot, is this because you like to end the day on the positive side or is it because you know you tilt when you've won a lot and get overconfident?? Stoploss makes sense, stopwin doesn't :f_grin:

Haha, not really, but as I was writing this post, seemed like a perfect opportunity to do so :f_biggrin:

Yes, I like big green numbers and I hate any red numbers :f_biggrin:
No tilting when winning, but I just get this "stop while you're up decent" voice nagging in my head and then I just can't continue playing A-game ... or at least I'm not in the A-mindset anymore ...

But yeah, gotta get over it ... Now as I said, I luckily have enough BI's for NL50 already as well, so I can carry on with the "not looking@HEM" practice, which helps tremendously and hopefully can totally eliminate & help me forget about results. :]

Isn't this a type of tilt?

Well true, I just meant I don't tilt in the way you described ...
But otherwise, anything else but your best is tilt ... so yeah

That's why I stop playing.

Okay, i've got to try this not looking at HEM until the end of teh day thing. Usually I check after every session, i've never had the problem with checking during sessions but I think checking after one session is a problem, as if i'm down all I want to do is get back into profit again in my next session

Hope you're NL50 career doesn't last long.... And that isn't as cruel as it sounds I meant I hope you move up :P

Holy shit ... just had a 2 bottles of vodka + NL2 session @ Simo's place ...
Who said poker isn't a game of skill ...

We made like 20BI's despite running under EV and losing some coolers in deep spots ...

Siiick shit, made like $7,50/hour which is waaay above average wage here in Estonia ... AT GOD DAMN NLTWO !!

Simo will post some sick hands tomorrow probably ...

My fav was when I overbet shoved with Ax @ JJJJQ board (deep) and got called by KK :f_biggrin: :f_biggrin:

Basically BRM wise could be shooting @100 pretty soon, though I have only played like 8k hands @50.

But I think I'm gonna stick to 50 for a least til I've played like 50k hands there and re-evaluate the situation then. :]

Beautiful :f_love: Same happened to me at Cake poker. I had a K and flop was checked AAA. Turn comes...you guess it, A. I went all in (deep) and won that hand. The guy thought we would split the pot as 4ok was on board :f_grin:

Hero ($52)
UTG ($60.35)
UTG+1 ($28.65)
CO ($50)
BTN ($55.95)

Dealt to Hero Q♣ 3♣

fold, UTG+1 raises to $1, fold, fold, fold, Hero calls $0.50

Now this is a really gay spot ... I know he just god damn 2 outered me or if not then has me outkicked - but I just cannot find the skill within myself to fold this vs midstacked fish.

Hero shows A♥ 3♥
(Pre 34%, Flop 92.6%, Turn 15.9%)

UTG wins $51.65

Do you raise this river or just take the cheap showdown?
@Turn feels like KJ against which I call down, but when he underbets the river, I'm thinking "oh, I guess he just has trips and I can valueraise vs worse kings"

What I didn't think about though was that if he indeed has KJ, he just made the nuts, no need to vbet/protect hard and I can't have too much to call with so he underbets to get a call from Jx etc and maybe even induce ... which he apparently succeeded in doing.

Villain - 26/26/inf AF so far over 40 hands

This hand, villain has 79% cbet, so I like to c/r the shit out of those guys on such boards ... but it turns sour this time, for him to continue @turn, he has to have K/A :club: right? or boat ofc ...

Though he could be turning his PP's or A3s into a bluff knowing I wouldn't check the nuts on the river for him to c-back whatever he might have.

A bit more "interesting" one ... As a standard it's the crappiest board ever, so standard would be c/f here ...

But I underbet 1/3 just in case to drive away whatever crap he might have - he either has everything or nothing on this board.

Now, you might be asking "but why do you bet when you only fold out hands that you beat anyway?"

My reasoning is that I'd be more than happy to take it down vs hands that I beat anyway and since I'm OOP, if I just try to check it down and this being NL50 where nobody likes to check down almost anything these days, if I check flop & turn and he decides to turn his SC's or low pockets into a bluff, I can obv never c/c and he'll take it with anything and everything ... so small cbet will fold out the crap which I'm very happy with and if not then at least it will keep them in check and they will check back turn & river with those hands at least and I don't get bluffed out by crappier pockets etc.

 Beat NL25 for at least 6bb/100 [x] :f_cool:

So, in a sense, one of my most fail months when it comes to self-management and putting in the time ...

But $$$ wise it was still my biggest month ever so far (despite losing 1/3 of all winnings near the "finish line") ... for the 3rd month straight :f_biggrin:

What's done is done -- February HAS TO//WILL be the sickest month I've ever had = volume & $$$ wise :f_cool:

EDIT: Add in my NL25 results = 8.2bb/100 over 16 761 hand sample (was BE for the first 12k hands and then after NL50 shot started crushing it hard + some rungood :f_biggrin: )

No point in posting standard coolers & beats, but I'll post some hands worth discussing from yesterday's gruesome session ...

This is the kind of hand that I've always been making mistakes with thinking that I have the nuts basically ...

What I see during the hand = TP + nutFD = nuts and he doesn't have much behind so lets just put it in.

When I started to think about it, in reality this is a very sneaky little bastard of a hand where I'm actually almost always crushed.

Only ~19% equity vs two pair or better.
Villain had 19/12/11% 3bet (16%@blinds)
Also really high cbet % and flop aggroness

So we can add A3/A9/33 and even 99 to his range ...
Against which we have about ~26% EQ

If we want to be really optimistic, we could add hands like KTcc/K9cc/QTcc in there and hope he's potting the turn for max FEq, though that is rarely the case.

So in fact, the only play here should be to FOLD :f_eek:
which seems pretty sick :f_biggrin:

Though, I should be right to assume that given how this hand played ...
and his bet sizing - I have to either fold or call if he has enough behind for decent implied odds (which in this case I don't, coz he's short so all I can do is fold basically)

Yes/no ?

SB ($32.90)
BB ($50)
UTG ($167)
UTG+1 ($17)
Hero ($128)
BTN ($81.15)

Dealt to Hero J♣ A♣

fold, fold, Hero raises to $1, fold, SB raises to $3.50, fold, Hero calls $2.50

FLOP ($7.50) 3♣ A♠ K♦

SB bets $3.50, Hero calls $3.50

TURN ($14.50) 3♣ A♠ K♦ 9♣

SB bets $14.50, Hero raises to $121 (AI), SB calls $11.40 (AI)

RIVER ($66.30) 3♣ A♠ K♦ 9♣ 3♦

This is a very interesting one vs a pretty tight aggro reg.
Usually this is a muck, but based on what I had seen from him today (I observed a lot of hands he was involved in and huge river bets/raises seem to be his signature move)

18/10/3.7AF (passive on the flop - uberaggro @turn & river with high frequencies as well)/ 14% 3bet from the blinds (sample 200 hands)

Though at the time this hand happened, I had less stats on him, and then his stats were even more aggro/higher

Pretty dry flop - standard cbet (though his fold to cbet was 43%)
Perfect card for a 2nd barrel
River not quite what I was hoping for, but still a vbet ...
Now this MONSTROUS raise - imo he NEVER raises so huge with a better king - nut kings would 3bet me pre and other kinds would mostly call, maaybe make a smallish raise but not this ridiculous.

So he's uberpolarized to god knows what and the flopped or turned nuts ...
Usually this is a fold for me but vs his stats and the river aggroness I'd seen from him, I decided to snap it off.

Or should I always be folding this regardless his uberaggro stats, coz @NL50 ppl don't tend to make bluffs with such monstrous raise sizings
and there are 22 combos of nuts (55/33/22/A4s), which is pretty damn much :f_biggrin: ... though we can remove 55 coz he overbet shoves the river with quads like everybody else (saw him do that 10 mins after this hand :P )

Hahaha, what a sick hand, he sure is pro.
I have a question for you. I see we have the same problem that we both have a steadily losing non-showdown line. Now, I've played NL5 @ 17bb/100 and currently NL10 @ 20bb/100 (small sample), but my non-showdown line is going straight down to hell. Now, I was trying to find a good explanation for this, and I think a lot of this is because I like to see some flops against very bad players that stack off very easily with TP type of hands, and that means that I will have to fold often when I don't hit my draws when playing speulative hands. I really think that the non-sd line is not a leak, more of a consequence of the playing style.

Do you have an explanation for this? I'd really like to know.

Cheers and good luck!

You're on the right track, the red line fascination is just the "thing of the moment" that everybody's talking about and how it's a leak etc etc, when in fact it's a product of your playing style and how you run.

In general, the most basic ABC style will result in the blue line skyrocketing and red line declining and vice versa, when u're a postflop aggromaniac, ur red line will skyrocket and blue line plummets.

And as an addition, all that ofc also depends how ur running - like I'm a mixture of both styles - I'm not overly aggrotard but I'm no standard blueline TAG either, which usually results in the red line being about BE most of the time ...

Though I've been running into real shitty spots lately so inevitably I must fold in a lot of sick spots that also plummets the red line severely ...

Esp for you in the nanomicro stakes like NL2-5, unless u're mindfucking the shit out of those players (which you probably aren't since you'd be playing much higher stakes then already) - u're redline is naturally gonna plummet as well when you play a solid standard winning style @ those stakes where the fold button is your biggest friend and winrate maker ;) :f_thumbsup:

Hope that gives you the answer u were looking for.
