I've decided there's not much point me going to today's lecture's, since i'm tired, and after having to stand up for 2 hours on the train (Yes, it was that busy) not in the best of moods. I'm going to watch an episode of House and sleep for a few hours

Unfortunately I got the news today that my Dissertation Mentor's father passed away on Friday. Despite the obvious awfulness of him having to deal with his Father's death, it also means that he's unavailable (Understandably of course) for an essential meeting for my statistical analysis and conversion of some things. So tbh there's not much I can do until i've done that, although he has said this is grounds for an extension on my deadline if I feel I need it, so that's nice of him :)

All said and done, RIP to his Father :( Always horrible to hear of a death, especially since I know what it feels like to deal with the death of someone close to you :(

Doomswitch well and truly activated!

Last two sessions have been horrible, ridiculous coolers, the frustration of no Cbets working in the way you want them to, not reaching the flop with hands you want to play because of 3bets/4bets preflop. It seems this month is going the way last motnh went, starting out great and then just getting repeatedly raped by a deck of cards for the last part of the month. Wasn't going to check my results after this last session, but I need to post a few hands. Oops, wish I didn't, not pretty viewing. Down $138 in that session. Quitting for the afternoon before I tilt, might just lie in bed and watch House for a bit Maybe play another session tonight, but if it goes the same way i'm gonna take a day or 2 break, just so it doens't get to me :)

Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

MP1 checks, Hero bets $6.00, MP1 calls $6.00.

Turn: ($20.75) A:d (2 players)

Cba with explaining it, I just let out a wry smile when he turned them over.

Didn't have him ona flush draw, he was a pretty bad player, would've got it in with TPTK. Had him on AK/K9 etc, basically I had him on hands that I beat, plus a few coolers that were possible. But not on a flush draw.

On the + side, I did buy a new Zippo today _cool: It looks beautiful I was going to get one which had the 4 A cards on, but decided I will save that for another time _cool:

Hey mate, couple of questions cos i cant think of anyone better to ask!

What are the key differences you found between NL10 and NL25 (if any)? Is it just a case of the reg's are a little better and there's more of them about?

When would ya recommend taking some shots? Was thinking around ~$600, but if there's not too much difference between the limits I might give it a shot sooner.

The main differences, at Stars this is, not sure about other sites, is more regs that are slightly better (But they're still very, very exploitable ). It also has quite a lot more complete fish imo, as the gamblers like to play for more money, and $25 is still a relatively small amount of money Less nits as well. You get a few good regs on there that beat the limit very well, so watch out for them, but many of them can still be beaten after you get some reads on them.

I started to take shots at around $600, I took 2BI shots and failed a few times, mainly through not adjusting to increased aggression from some regs. Also, a lot more pots will come your way when you learn to exploit regs with moves such as light 3betting from late positions and blinds, and for a certain few regs, light 4betting during blind wars is very profitable. Floating flop Cbets also becomes more profitable imo (Obviously vs right players on the right boards), with a lot of players just giving up on the turn and letting you take the pot down.

If you are playing on Stars (I'm sure you've told me before but i've forgotten), then I can recommend taking shots as soon as possible, since the tables are full of fish at the moment since they got rid of the 20-50bb tables.

Will probably only play one session tonight as i'm about to launch into a Football Manager session with my flatmates, and that could go on a while Last night I had a pretty swingy session, at one point I was down $140 after a few bad beats and coolers, the standard stuff, AK > KK, then in a 4bet pot against a supposed reg I stack off with AA on the flop, he has called a 4bet with 78 and hit 2 pair. Then a set over set that I may have misplayed, but still i don't think i'm ever getting away with it. But I think wasy8 is my lucky charm I started speaking to him around halfway through my session and things turned around from there, I ended it +$90 Still down for the last few days but it's all good, and my play is getting better now i'm getting more reads on the regs, and also realising how some fish WILL stack off to me with middle pair no kicker haha.

Sick session _cool: Not a long one though unfortunately since my internet was fucking up annoyingly and that tilts me to hell Either way, I won my biggest pot ever, building a $150 or so up in one. Was a horrific cooler to my opponent, I had quads, he had full house XD. I will update more tomorrow when i've slept, but all in all I end the session $170 up :)

I hope not I'm sick of these damn regs infesting my fish-filled tables Hopefully we can both move up soon, meaning that when you reach NL50 i'll have moved Don't worry, i'm not trying to hinder your progress, just thinking about my own needs

Anyway, don't really have time to post a full update here, so will probably post a few hands tomorrow and then a monthly roundup on Monday, just came in to ask a quick question to anyone reading.

What is a decent win (Well, lose)- rate for your blind positions? Obviously if you always fold your BB and SB then your loss in a FR game will be -100bb/100h for BB and -50bb/100 for SB. I just decided to check mine out. I'm currently running at -36bb/100h on the BB and -21bb/100h on SB. Would you say this is still too big a loss and I should be defending my blinds more often?

Obviously the BU position is by far the most profitable, with me winning 27.5bb/100h on that, and a slightly lower 21bb/100h on CO. Then my MP and EP stats are hovering at around 9bb/100h each. So i'm thinking my non-blind positions are quite good tbh, so if I can just up that blind winrate by even 1bb/100 it would mean I lose 1.5bb less on each round of the table and up my winrate considerably.

Don't you post the big blind once every 9 hands at FR, which is about -11bb/100 hands?

Yes, but he is referring strictly by position. So in BB you post the BB a hundred times in 100 hands played from that position.

LE: This is irelevant whether it's FR or SH.

This And yeah, I don't know why I added the fact it was in FR on, completely irrelevant

Hello again, good to see you seem to be doing well at NL50.

In regards to winrate in the BB, when I talked to Bogdan about it, he said that you want to bring it down to about -20 to -25bb/100. For SB I guess maybe half that would be ideal?

I am also at about -30bb/100, so I need to work on it a bit more. I am way too agro vs BTN raises. If I just stopped 5-bet bluffing my win rate would probably skyrocket. :f_biggrin:

Anyways, good luck at the tables.

Thanks Hajler, I think my problem is that I fold to too many steals and miss out on great opportunities to squeeze. Working on it though :)

So the shortest month is behind us, and very soon a graph showing my recent sick heater will be on this page Along with a monthly round up of all profits and VPPs etc. But first, I have to go for a 5 hour stint of constant lectures :( Boooooooo. Poker volumr hasn't been what it should have been this weekend, nor has work volume, as I spent the majority of Saturday and yesterday in the living room playing Football Manager with my flatmates. I think i'm addicted again :(

Shit, gonna be late, silly forums distracting me. Good luck everyone (Well actually, not everyone, just the ones reading this, but it doens't matter as the ones not reading this won't have a clue I just doomswitched them!)

So, the short month of February is finally over, so here's a quick review:

:spade: Got a staker and moved up to NL50
:spade: Ran alright when mixing limits (Nl25 and NL50)
:spade: Ran well playing NL50 by itself for the first time
:spade: Then ran badly
:spade: Then hit a monstrous fucking heater (see graph)
:spade: Bought $300 bonus

As you can see, I hit a pretty big heater after my downswing, winning around $400 in 3 sessions, so that was cool :) Ended the month with a very dull session in which I spewed away $25 with TPTK against a fish who had overpair, then ran into a few things. But there were no big pots, and no real interesting play, so I got pretty bored and shut down.

Hands Played - 38,217

Profit - $506.49

Profit With Rakeback - $906.49

VPP Earned (Monthly) - 5,453

VPP Earned (Annually) - 10,342

Think that will do for now, i'm pretty tired and have a shitload of work to get through tomorrow. As you can see, I probably would have made Platinum this month had it not been for the stupid missing days of February. Fucking 28 days!? What the hell am I supposed to do with that time!?

However, the most ridiculous lengthed month has provided me with by far my biggest winning month, netting almost $1k in a short 28 days, coming to around $16 per hour, which is fine by me :)

So here I will leave you with a short happening of today that made me realise just how addicted to poker I am

I was sitting there in my Quaternary Palaeoclimatology lecture, as my friendly Japanese lecturer was telling us about Fuhrier equations or something (I'm assuming jbpatzer will know what these are ) and talking about running climate models over and over again to determine the probability of certain phase shifts in the climate. He turned the projector off and started drawing an example, explaining how some models will predict a steady rise in temperature, whereas others will predict a steady rise, then a huge leap or dip followed by a chaotic period of large fluctuation of global temperature. And all I could think throughout this whole explanation was just how much his example looked like my lifetime HEM graph _cool: Hell yeah!

FYP. I can do maths coaching at a very reasonable rate if you're interested and since you have some spare cash now.

Internet connection shit, disconnecting every fucking hand, running like crap, losing buyins like i've got a hole in my bankroll that money just falls out of. Internet connection has tilted me so hard that i've had to shut down for the night under threat of severe table tilt Ran into set over set once, tried a shitty, stupid bastard of a bluff once and lost a flip once. Makes up ~3 stacks gone in a session of about 30 minutes haha! Not actually gonna look at how much i'm down as it will piss me off, so i'm gonna get an early night and watch a film or something. Hopefully this internet will get sorted tomorrow, if it doesn't i'm going to be ringing Virgin Media for the 149359205th time to get them to do something about a service we're paying for and can barely use.

Bastards.
