[Closed] Sick Hand!!! Questioning if I made a mistake.

I know the hand in itself is hard to get away from. but considering I had such a huge stack and so did the winner of the hand I think I should have folded and continued to grind for the rest of the tourney and just play with a 30k stack.

there were only 1k players left and average stack was about 20k so I guess my question is should I have folded and not committed my chips and tournament life to that one hand ? or am I just over-thinking it ?

this is a very tough one although you could of put him on 77 due to the lack of pre flop action but i guess only a pro makes that lay down IMO

I weighed in the 77 possibility but I thought he may have been on a extremely strong draw like 56 of clubs. in any event now that I have had time to cool off I believe that I was wrong in calling his all in. with 36k left behind I could have still made a great run in the tournament and would not of had to play shove/fold for a long time. I don't consider myself a pro by any means but I feel like I have the experience to make it deep in that tournament every time I play it. Conclusively my own analysis is that I should have folded to to all in Re raise and continued to play as a moderately large stack.

The standard of play in the Daily dollar is often abysmall with players donking off huge stacks on unlikely draws or with AA,KK on scary boards. Unless the player(s) involved are super super tight you gotta call IMO....

no, ihufa is just trolling, its not an easy fold, at the daily dollar you never ever lay down a set without a flush hitting or except if you had a table for 100hands and a guy was the sickest nit 5/3 (or lower) and he pushes you, then i fold

The guy wasn't tight at all actually he was doing allot of post flop raising. but I can help but think that I should have seen the set of 7's before I called and just folded.

What sucked is I kept telling myself when I was at 60k was don't commit to pots win small ones, and make final table, yet I went crazy and shoved off my entire stack.

You can't fold a set in micro stakes MTTS, as simple as that, unless the flop is like JT9 monotone. Yeah you will be behind some %% of the time, but looking that you would still have some chips left is wrong.

You play MTTs to win and if you would have won the pot you would probably be a chipleader at that point with a very good chance of making the final table, while with an average stack you can be out in 1 preflop cooler or suckout anyway.

It's on Harrington's book, he says every time he hears of a player who folded a set on a tournament for fear of a bigger set he thinks inside: "what an idiot".

His words are also: "if you lost with a set to a better set it was just not your tournament."

I'm not that experienced to try to make my own opinion count, I'm just sharing/remembering what's in one of the most acclaimed poker books around...

keep in mind, you play for the 1st place in such small prize pool tournaments, and most important stuff, tournaments are luckboxing, you cannot win without luck/setups/suckouts..

I agree that you need to be extremely lucky to win such a large tournament. However you also need to make decisions that will keep you in the tournament longer rather then just possibly winning the current hand you are in. I would argue that if i folded that hand i would have easily made top 100 and maybe further. Instead i made a call that put my tournament life at a huge risk. I understand that most players are huge donkeys but it was correct to fold the hand in that situation.

imo opinion you should of raised all in on the flop after ace77 raised your bet because there was enough in the pot already to go all in and also there was too many players involved on a drawy board, that or fold but it be a really tough fold.Wouldnt of made a difference in this hand i know but seems to be a better move than just calling...

I would have gone All in however it was blocked. All i could do on the flop was call. Im not exactly sure why that is but i didn't have the option to shove.

Who the fuck can fold bottom set in $1 donkament 60 bbs deep? Mandatory stack off ldo.
