[Closed] Clarify which chart I should use in this spot

I'm dealt 88 in the small blind, everyone folds around to the cutoff who raises. The button folds and now it's my turn to act. Do I:

(a) Raise according to the 3 bet chart
or
(b) Fold according to the steal/resteal chart ?

?(

I'm assuming it's raise, and that the steal charts are only used if it's folded around to me, but could someone clarify please ?

Thanks

Apply the logic

Do you really think that you can ever fold such a good hand like 88 in that spot?

Charts doesnt take into account opponents play etc which is a huuuuuuuge factor here, how often he raise from btn, steal %, fold to resteal etc

But I dont like fold 88 vs btn open.

chart says reraise with poket 8s on a raise fro co or bu

It depends ont he villain and situation I would say, I am hearing a lot that the chart is not do all end all;

Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

Play hand

$0.02/$0.05 No-Limit Hold'em (9 handed)

Known players:
[tg]MP1$9.92:///////;MP2$12.37:///////;MP3$5.98:///////;CO$5.43:///////;BU$9.06:///////;SB (Hero)$1.95:///////;BB$5.07:///////;UTG1$7.66:///////;UTG2$6.24:///////;[/tg]

Preflop: Hero is SB with 8:c, 8:s.
2 folds, MP1 raises to $0.15, 4 folds, Hero raises to $0.43, BB folds, MP1 calls $0.28.

Flop: ($0.91) T:h, 3:d, A:d (2 players)
Hero bets $0.60, MP1 folds, Hero gets uncalled bet back.

Final Pot: $0.91.

The above instance is an example of re-raising 88 from SB, where I did'nt hit flop & made cbet of 60% pot because of the A, it's a scare card so villain either has it or doesnt.

Plus what could villain be raising with from CO;

Play hand

$0.02/$0.05 No-Limit Hold'em (4 handed)

Known players:
[tg]SB$2.14:///////;BB$5.00:///////;CO (Hero)$2.72:///////;BU$21.59:///////;[/tg]

Preflop: Hero is CO with 8:c, 8:h.
Hero raises to $0.15, 3 folds, 2 folds, BB folds, Hero gets uncalled bet back.

Final Pot: $0.07.

I would say since players loosen up in late position I think 88 is good enough for a re-raise. However it does depend on the villain. IMO I would reraise much of the time because I play fewer hands and I think it gives me tight table image.

btw - if anyone wants to criticise or give feedback on my examples of playing 88 feel free :f_cool:

Honestly I don't like to even raise from SB.

If you know the range of steal of your opponent, it could be a nice move.

But what if you get re-raised with a flop like that? If you do alot of re-raise from SB, the regs can start to exploit you very easily.

Imo, I hate playing from SB, and I always play carefully.. It's an easy spot to get trapped and loose money.
