Welcome to my world I acquired silver in about 4 days of trial and error, mainly on NL5 rush (I found I can manage not to loose there so much ) and now Im +30$, but 25 of that is take2, 10 is first time deposit bonus and 5 is rake, so under the hood Im loosing :)

But meh, I call it "learning fee".

btw:
- bluffing for my entire stack

I can sing under this one :f_frown:

PokerStrategy really should come up with a member ranking system that reflects our play level and winrate rather than the rake we've paid. I once saw a guy who donked off his starting $50 capital at the NL10 tables in half an hour--and he was silver!

[ ] PokerStrategy cares about our winrate.
[X] PokerStrategy cares about how much we rake for them.

I have to disagree with this. Personally the role of moderation has nothing to do with my job title, nor do I get any benefits if players play more. I genuinely want to help new members and always try and post to give beneficial advice as I genuinely care for the community and want it to grow/improve as I do all the new members I meet on here.

Sounds like Cash Games' monsters... that's why i play SNGs. Emm, and do you Plats unlock Plat articles and never read them? I'm not trying to be sarcastic here, but i'm just wondering... if the pokerstrategy articles are really worth following thro'.

ummm how are u platinum?

Because you can get platinum on nl10 if you multitable?

Im Diamond, atm play up to NL100, going for black member and these 2 strategys is pretty common in my play.

Edit: And ofc im winning player
Edit2: What i want to say is, these are good strategys and dont avoid these, but learn how to make money by use these strategys, it makes a lot of money.

I promise never to check/re raise shove when I am 100% sure I am beat.

I talk about this.

I have AA raise, get caller, cbet, get called, 2nd barrel, got reraised, I call, on river he bet size of the pot, I am married to AA and know I am beat but I can't fold it, because of this, I don't call, but ALL IN. Ofcourse he have me beat with set.

I don't know if I was sure I was beat 100% but that shove makes no sence. Well, the other reg played perfect, represented J on the turn. And I was preflop raising like 4 times in a row because I had AQ, KQ, JJ, AA.

When all the videos and content are available to all Bronze members then we will believe you. Until then it's clear that PokerStrategy cares greatly about us generating constant rake.

Pokerstrategy as a business and its owners - yes, only like the money don't care about you.

Pokerstrategy as a community of poker players - not the least.

I still have a problem with article and video content being linked to rake level. The assumption seems to be that the higher-rake-paying players have moved up in levels, but not everyone starts with the free $50 starting capital. Some start by depositing hundreds of dollars and playing the 10NL tables right off the bat. Those players can reach platinum level while still having a negative ROI or bb/100. I don't see why they should be entitled to read platinum-level articles while winning players who play 2NL are not.

In other words, there has to be some common sense in the way a company's profits are linked to customer rewards. Right now, the common sense is dubious.

but from a strategical aspect you should never disregard one play completely.

Hm I was about to say exactly the same...but with far worser english ofc.

Stuff such as;

"Never bluffing for my whole stack"

and

"Never calling three barrels with top pair medium kicker"

you should really consider. Poker is so situational and there is 1000000% going to be times when they are the right play.

Tilt shoving your whole stack I can understand and playing above your bankroll I can understand but from a strategical aspect you should never disregard one play completely.

Never is a strong word, but regularly making such plays on NL20 makes me lose a lot of money earned by playing painstakingly long hours. And then I end up staring at my screen in disbelief, wondering what the hell inspired me to do something that stupid. Therefore the thread...

+1

Also can we please give the whole rank thing a rest, it's kinda naive. The point of the thread is to highlight the errors of human nature and I am sure any level from beginner to pro have questioned a bad call or chck/shove etc. Suggestions to avoid continuously making mistakes or improving reads on the situation are welcomed I am sure

So maybe this is an example;

Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

Play hand

$0.05/$0.1 No-Limit Hold'em (7 handed)

Known players:
[tg]MP3$4.79:///////;CO$8.00:///////;BU$10.00:///////;SB$4.69:///////;BB$11.60:///////;MP1$10.00:///////;MP2 (Hero)$4.80:///////;[/tg]

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with K:d, K:c.
MP3 posts deadblind, CO posts deadblind, MP1 folds, Hero raises to $0.44, MP3 folds, CO calls $0.34, 2 folds, BB calls $0.34.

Flop: ($1.47) 9:d, 5:d, 8:d (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.77, CO raises to $1.54, BB folds, Hero raises to $4.36, CO calls $2.82.

I can thought he'd hit a set - (99 call from CO coulda made sense. ...) but even when he reraises I need to know. So I shove to find out

Turn: ($10.19) 9:s (2 players)

River: ($10.19) 7:h (2 players)

Final Pot: $10.19.

Results follow:

Hero shows two pairs, kings and nines(Kd Kc).
CO shows a flush, ten high(6d Td).

CO wins with a flush, ten high(6d Td).

Results were a little suprising (I mean the preflop call) and this is what makes me wonder from time to time about basing the play on a situation rather than cards . . . . ?(

I like the thread, not big fan of the OP but the thread is useful.

AKM247 ,
I would check/call the flop. ;)

yeah thats a check call, equity was only diminished by the flush draw and at any level some wankers will play anything suited
