Everyone who plays the nosebleeds probably has played under rolled before, but I am guessing those that made it picked their tables very carefully.

people on nosebleeds are just people who started playing online poker about 10 years ago or got lucky on massive tournament,
Or took shots and won like in a lottery. (Isildur1, Xwink). How many did take? And I know only 2 of them. There are no other way to get to nosebleeds anyway I gues.
ways to get to nosebleeds.
1)Get a time mashine.
2)got lucky on massive tournament.
3)got lucky on shots.
4)have proper bankroll management and overthink regulars in 10 years maybe you will play on nosebleeds.
From my experience of taking shots, apart from waking up in a gutter somewhere, is it would have been just as quick if I up'd the volume of the current stake, or was just more patient and carried on at current stake. I've never actually won when taking a shot, hitting the variance train everytime, standard is usually the same. By all means take shots, just be prepared to move down 2 stakes rather than 1 if it doesn't go well. But most the time it's better to stick it out at your current stake.
Your roll is working capital, so just like a portfolio you have risk assessment, if you have excess funds and can afford to take a shot, go for it, but don't risk going bust doing so.

But seriously, I think taking shots should be a term for when you're first trying out a new limit you're either reasonably rolled for or willing to move down when you lose x BI. Putting 20% of your BR on one tournament or cash game is not a systematic method of winning money, it's just a desperate move to earn a lot of cash quickly and shouldn't ever be recommended. Unless the guy you recommend it to plans to use the money to play you HU on your regular limit.

I have decided its just not worth the risk!! The other consideration is that If I'm totally honest with myself I'm at the level i'm at because I'm not actually a good enough player to move up the limits yet!!!!

Dunno one time long ago I put 100$(half of my BR) on tilt 25/50 NLH rush poker.
First hand I had poket 5s.The flop was T J 5 rainbow.Me and two other players saw the flop.
I donk bet get raised and the other dude raise all-in.I call the shove and the guy after me called all-in...
1st guy had poket AA(total fish) the second had J T for two pair I had trips.I closed I closed my eyes and when I opened them I had 290 some $. ♦.I tryed this one more time again with 5s :

lol this helps me realise that shots just dont work for normal guys like us!!
Real life examples are the s#*t. ♦ Thats why watching poker is far beter then reading a book with dry theory.
I am only not sure if this was 0.50/1$ or 25/50 but you get the point anyway.
