Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, 6.5 Tournament, 100/200 Blinds (5 handed) - Full Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

SB (t2780)
BB (t5470)
UTG (t1925)
Hero (MP) (t2890)
Button (t435)

Hero's M: 9.63

Preflop: Hero is MP with 8, 8
1 fold, Hero bets t500, 2 folds, BB calls t300

Flop: (t1100) 3, 7, A (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks

Turn: (t1100) 3 (2 players)
BB bets t650, Hero raises to t2390 (All-In), BB calls t1740

River: (t5880) A (2 players, 1 all-in)

Total pot: t5880

I think my line was horrible here, but wonder what the best move would have been? I felt i am too deep to push, but ending up against the big stack and a big pot was not really what i wanted either. Ideas?

considering how short the BTN is, we are basically on the bubble. i would just shove pre for 14bbs it looks +EV to me. as played, cbet the flop 1/2 pot, give up if u get called.

as played, just fold the turn. you are turning your 88 into a complete bluff and you are very risk-averse.
