I think pre-flop was fine, 3x raise after its been folded to yu in the CO, esp since yu have a reasonable size stack...
However on the flop im more inclined to check with A5 rather then bet.
BB flats your raise pre which makes his range fairly wide IMO,
He has a fairly small stack so i think he's alot more inclined to check-raise (trapping) if he hit the board well, had a mid pocket pair or flush draw (all of which are at least calling your bet)..also by betting yu give him the chance to make a play....most of the time here your only getting called or raise by a better hand which yu are behind.... if yu bet and he folds we can assume ur A5 was the best hand...... so i really believe checking the flop in this case is better and making a more informed decision on the turn, if he checks the turn yu go ahead and bet 60-70%pot.... if he bets then yu use all the information yu got pre-flop, on the flop and the turn and make an informed choice....

preflop is alright unless villains behind you are really loose or aggressive...
I would also size it 2.5x the bb or to 500 when the blinds are so big.. but it does also matter how big the effective stack sizes are.. if the other opponents all have 15k stacks making it 3x is fine... even 4x would be fine... folding would also be fine here if your table image is bad or if the villains after you are really active in restealing pots and stuff like that..

flop betting out is standard unless villain is super aggressive.. then check/shoving might be a better line..
by betting out we allow him to fold all his random cards.. as well as getting value from his draws..
when he reshoves I fold unless you have a read he's aggressive and likely to bluff here.. then calling is obviously fine.

that's the thing, my read on him was that he was aggressive and likely to bluff so i felt i had to call 3000 more with second pair on the board - needless to say i was right and he got lucky on the river
