Meh, just 4bet more! :f_biggrin:

finding it tough to 4bet guys who are 3betting 11% with my junk. I'l see how the first few thousand hands go before I make any major adjustments to my 4bet range, which is currently JJ+ AKo+ vs 11%ish 3bettors.

this is probs too tight? does 99+,AQs+,AKo sound better, and then what sort of call range do I have for a reshove? fold AQo and call everything else?

edit: nm, going to go for something like: QQ+, AK+, and then junk with non zero equity I wouldn't call with. weighted 65/35 towards value hands I think.

Uhm, they are polarized and bluff range>>>>>value range.. you can 4bet any hand until they adapt, I think... Not super sure.. but deffo don't only 4bet for value...

LE: just saw your edit.. which is fine to start with but then call lighter if they shove too often.. PPs have great equity for bluff shoving if opp doesn't call TT and lower.. just a range like JJ+, AK or AQ+... Good thing this is JBs blog and he can do all the math behind shoving PPs vs a bunch of ranges. :f_biggrin:

guysssssssss dont hijack jbs awesome thread

but also my 2c, there are many ways to play pf, depending on how polarised/depolarised OPs range is, and how they react to 4b's. One thing that wasn't mentioned was 4b'ing hands like 77-99/AJ etc. for value vs spewtards that like to 3b/5b their entire range.

also note that TT+/AQ is only a 5% range, so whats the other 6% of his range? 8-). the best guys to 4b junk against are depolarised guys, esp if they have some portion of bluffs too, against polarised guys u want to be calling more to keep in their probably bluff heavy range.

@what fusionpk said: yep it's weird and makes for tough postflop spots but the reason why 3betting a polarised range in position is so sexy is cause your opponent will typically 4bet or fold

Bleeeurgh! Too much poker. Post your stuff in my 3bet/4bet/5bet thread and you might even persuade me to do the maths.

I have a copy of Collin Moshman's book on HU, read it once ages ago but didn't much like. Anyone have an opinion on it? I will read the HU stuff in Easy Game again.

I luurv this song!

I play some 18/14 @ NL25SH and sometimes feel a tiny bit too loose :f_biggrin:

I suspect that's fine below NL100, but from then on you'll just never get paid off (says he who's never played above NL50!).

I'm a bit off sweats at the moment. I usually enjoy them, but I'm not sure I get much out of them. I'm just an antisocial bastard. Mind you, you've played lots of HU, and I've played lots of SH NL25, so maybe we could help each other out.

This HU business is too easy. First and only hand against this bloke.

No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (2 handed) - Hold'em Manager Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

jbpatzer (SB) ($10)
BB ($5)

Preflop: jbpatzer is SB with 7♣, 7♥
jbpatzer bets $0.15, BB raises $0.50, jbpatzer calls $0.40

Flop: ($1.20) 4♦, 4♥, 7♠ (2 players)
BB bets $1.20, jbpatzer calls $1.20

Turn: ($3.60) A♥ (2 players)
BB bets $0.95, jbpatzer calls $0.95

River: ($5.50) 7♦ (2 players)
BB bets $2.25 (All-In), jbpatzer calls $2.25

Total pot: $10

Results:
jbpatzer had 7♣, 7♥ (four of a kind, sevens).
BB had A♦, K♦ (two pair, Aces and sevens).
Outcome: jbpatzer won $9.75

Tbh the number two problem is constructing sensible, realistic ranges, the number one problem is me finding the time/motivation to do it. I want to include something about the maths/game theory of 3bet/4bet/5bet in the book, but I'm waiting for TT to write something on it first. The maths isn't really a problem.

Just played 250 hands against someone who turned out to be a German pokerstrategist. We both ended up -$6. Is that what they call 'poor table selection'? I talked to him afterwards, and he seemed like a nice chap. It's good fun, but I need to find some fish.

Could also do with running a tad better, but shit happens.

I did, and he is and it was, even though he says 'Good!' far too often.

Why did none of you lot tell me about http://resizer.donkpedia.org/ ? It lets you resize Everest tables. Do I have to find out everything for myself?

I'm not playing HU NL10 anymore. The rake is just completely insane.

Don't you have PhD students to do stuff like that for you?

Well exactly! I'm used to having people do stuff like this for me.

We're off on holiday on Thursday, so I've decided that as far as poker is concerned, July ends today. We're having a week in a cottage in Cornwall (nice) and three days in a youth hostel on the way back (fml). The weather forecast is shocking, so I'm expecting ten days of fun, fun, fun, but I'm used to needing to come in to work for a rest after my holiday, so I will take it in my stride.

So, poker........poker, poker, poker. Hmmmmmm. I haven't posted for while as I didn't want to keep whinge, whinge, whinging. I managed to lose pretty much all of my $250 PS first aid money on Everest through a complete intellectual failure to adjust to the speed of the game and the player profile there. I've realized that over the last six months I've gotten used to playing in a certain way and that I have terrible trouble adapting to different opponents. For example, I've become very used to light 3betting and sometimes 4 betting, but, having tried NL10, NL25 and NL50 on Everest, my HUD tells me that most players are quite happy to call 3bets, so the adjustment is to 3bet fairly wide just for value. I didn't seem to be able to do it. Also, most people would call, call, call, so the adjustment is to tighten up preflop and mainly bet for value. I didn't seem to be able to do that either. Add in the fact that the software is so rubbish that I couldn't play more than four tables, and I found myself chasing the pot most of the time, which is a recipe for disaster. I need to find the autopilot switch and turn it off.

I've realized that another issue I have to deal with is the fact that I've taken my new favourite hobby and managed to turn into, well, not a chore, and not a job, but I suppose something that I'm not really doing mainly for enjoyment any more, which doesn't leave me with anything that I do just for fun. I don't have the time.

Obviously this ennui that has settled on me has been set off by the demise of Full Tilt, but when I come back from holiday on 1st August at least there should be a bit more clarity about what's going to happen. My plan is either to start playing there again or write it off and start playing with TT's stake (if he still trusts me with it) on stars. I'm hoping that he's sitting in Toronto writing feverishly between sessions of tennis and limp/reraising 84o UTG.

I shall return from Cornwall with a fresh mindset and stop being such a whingy donk. Over and out until then.
