My postgres database has gotten pretty huge... 25gb... and since most of it is 1-2 years old.. and 99% of it is from full tilt... where I might never ever play again... Any way to clean it to reduce it's size... without completely deleting my database?
Think there is a function called purge where you can delete hands before/after dates etc.
If you wanted to keep everything, not sure it's a great idea tbh as it's probably too big to manageably use effectively, but just in case you did, you could backup a copy onto an external hard drive.
I've recently picked up a 1TB (1,000 GB) External HDD for around £45 (circa $70).
Bought it mainly for backing up photos, Dig camcorder output etc, but even with those 1Tb is going to take a while to fill.
Also extremely useful to sync stuff between pc & lappy via normal USB connection.
Obviously smaller ones are also available at lower price.
