Liking this blog so far ♦ You seem to be crushing so far and I like your BRM idea of adding one table every so much you get
Really good idea that I might start using myself! Hopefully the site get things sorted soon so you can continue crushing

I first had this idea playing SNGs with 100BI brm, because on the site where I was playing there are only 1eur and 3eur SNGs and I didn't want to wait until I got to 300eur. I strongly recommend that everyone adopt this, it has a lot of advantages:
it increases your winrate and allows you to level up sooner
it gets you used to playing at the higher limit, so you're not too anxious when you first try it;
it makes it easier to adopt good BRM. If you run into variance, removing one table is a lot easier than leveling down on all your tables.
If you're going to do this, write down somewhere your "milestones" (eg: 50 - 68 - 86 - 104 - 125 eur if you 4-table nl2-nl5) and be prepared to respect them very strictly (that's crucial).

The tax on profits is included in the rake, which is a bit higher than the .coms. Rake is contributed on most sites but they might switch to wta on stars.
Short session this afternoon, I stopped early because I got cold-decked a few times in a row and decided to take a preventive study break before I started steaming, even though I'm up a bit.

In retrospect, this preventive study break sounded like a great idea and I'm going to do it again whenever I get one bad beat too many.
This is the hand where I lost the most:

I didn't shove the turn because I know he's a calling station and I want to milk him for more money.
In the other big hand I lost I had JJ on 89T rainbow board: villain called my big raise OOP with QJo and we got it in on the flop.
Saving the day so far, I cashed 28eur in a 2.5k eur freeroll and now my BR on stars is at 92.80eur, plus I'm unlocking a 20eur deposit bonus. Overall, I really can't complain
I might do another session later this evening, with 3 nl2 and 3 nl5 tables.
Well... so much for regular updates. The problem in cash games on the .it poker sites continues, and I decided I couldn't wait any longer and resumed playing on the original site.
On my last update on that site, I had 180-ish euros. After 3 days of playing, I now have 323.28eur (+10eur which are still blocked). I've also experienced my first losing day since I started playing cash... but no big deal, I'm happy I made it so far with only one losing day.

The good news is that I can add a nl25 table. I'm going to try it out later tonight :).
The bad news is that I've lost count of exactly how many days I've played on the site. I guess the challenge is set aside for the time being :(.
Today I was down to 290-ish because of some bad luck, and then the cards turned on the right table... on my single nl25 table, I flopped a set of 10s and tripled up to win 55 euros (!!!)
For the first time since I've started playing poker, my hands were very sweaty and I was actually terrorized as turn and river came. But I managed to fade the flush and won my biggest pot yet (80.78eur). Like I said before, up to 3 weeks ago, the most I've had in play at any one point in time, summing up all my tables, was 12 euros (6 SNGs), so you can understand how exciting this felt ♠_love:.
Now I'm up to 359.72eur and I feel like, if the poker gods continue to favor me, I might start making some decent money soon ![]()
I wish HEM worked on that site so that I could post hands and graphs and analyze my game better. But on the other hand, maybe that's exactly the reason why there's so much fish and few regs on that particular site, so I won't complain.
NIce BRM idea and cool blod - best of luck if you continue the challenge and I hope the Poker Gods keep favouring you zio!

Cool blog, didnt read all yet but sounds like you are sacrificing EV for less variance, long term this is not a good idea
well if gamble less you tilt less. so i dont see how it affects him in the long term really.
Up to 438.39eur (+10eur which are still blocked) even though I tilted off 17eur in a very stupid way. I decided to stop the session right after that.
Now I can play 2 nl25 and 4 nl10 tables. I thought about the challenge and I've made my decision: it's on again
and the objective is the original one. After all, since I went from 90 to 450-ish euros in perhaps 10 to 12 days of grinding (without counting the money I won on pokerstars.it) I'm still a huge favorite to win with 40 days to go.
Will play another session after dinner
PS: an afterthought. I think there's a lot of merit in stopping the session IMMEDIATELY after making a tilty move. I really enjoy playing poker, and getting "punished" by having to stop after a wrong decision acts as a strong negative reinforcement and trains me not to do it again.
Maybe I should start pinching my arm hard every time I make a bad call, LOL
PPS: Just looked it up. The right term is actually positive punishment, not negative reinforcement

Definitely. I'm fed up with unnecessary variance, I've had enough of it in all the SNGs and MTTs I've played. I just want a steady increase in bankroll.

Also, the BRM I use has lots of advantages, but it penalizes variance a bit more since I typically have a bigger % of my bankroll on the tables compared to a standard BRM.
i have a question for you sir
?(. it seems like you've been running good playing good since you started this blog. kudos!
i don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but what happens if you tilt/play bad/run bad, do you think your have the discipline to drop down the number of tables and drop down in stakes?

Well, that's what just happened to me ![]()
I was up to 530-ish after a short session last night before going out. Now I'm just done playing an early afternoon session in which, 15 minutes in, I lost 3 nl25 buy-ins with AA (twice) and KK, and in 2 of those 3 I was all-in preflop. ![]()
Dropping down wasn't really such a big issue for me, especially since I only had to close a NL25 table and replace it with a NL10 table. It took a while but now I'm up again to 543.49eur (+20eur still blocked... yes... 10 more than last time).
Up to 740.67eur (+20eur still blocked). Playing 4x NL25 and 2x NL10. At this point I'm a big favorite to reach 1k by the end of the month.

Need to decide whether I want to play NL50 rolled 40x or 50x -- and I need to do it soon, because it will affect the amount of money at which I'll be adding NL50 tables.
I find that listening to piano music while grinding helps me concentrate. Here's a beautiful Italian piece:

Thanks ;). I don't really know because HEM doesn't work there. I'm guessing around 2.5k-3k/day.
since your playing a max of 6 tables im guessing thats 4-6hours a day right?
do you stop in between to take breaks if you grind?

I always play exactly 6 tables. By "adding" a table I just mean I close a lower limit table and open a higher limit one.
For instance, now that I play 4x NL25 2x NL10, I can "add" a NL25 table and play 5x NL25 1xNL10 or "remove" a NL25 table and play 3x NL25 3x NL10, depending on my BR.
I haven't figured out breaks yet. For now, I pretty much stop when I'm tilted, tired, or have to go to the bathroom. Then the break is at least 30 mins, often more. It's just 6 tables and I'm listening to music as I play, so it's really not that hard for me to go on grinding for a while.
