[Closed] Live games

yeah i find myself playing looser at live games, due to the slower tempo. it's ok though, i have some reading ability so it gets me out of some tough spots.

In January I managed to qualify through series of online events to the local live Texas Holdem Tournament in Tallinn (100$ buyin tournament).

For me it was very first (and still last) live poker at all. I had never held real chips in my hands before. Actually I have been playing online poker only 4 month by this time.

I was very lhappy to finish the tournament on 3th place with 47 participates. I got 650$ prize money wich is ofcourse the biggest poker earning so far in my short career.

that's very nice. i play pub poker at the local bar here.. few chances to play semi-drunk poker for me.

it's 10$(+0$) NZD buy in, lol. not going to record results for that, that's for sure!

I usually play NL50 with friends, dealer's choice NLH /PLO/PLO-8/NL crazy pineapple (google it ^^,). There's one okay-ish player, an other ~good one, but the rest are all fish who buy in for 20-60BB, very easy money
A while back I had calculated my hourly rate to be about 13bb/hr (or 6.5ptBB/hr if you prefer). I'm not sure how much that is in bb/100 but it's probably between 15 and 20 ptBB/100 :P.
Total live I'm up ~1500-1700chf (1chf =~1$), that's including a few tournaments.
Haven't played in a casino yet though, NL2k is just a little over my bankroll ;), but from what I hear it's very fishy (a lot of rich tourists in Montreux :P)
Personally I don't see the slow rythm as a bad thing, it gives you time to get solid reads and socialize

I think I'm playing a £10 buyin live game tonight with about 6-10 players. Should be good, value poker ftw? The amount of times I see people over valuing their Ax is staggering.

lolol, there is a dude who plays who will relentlessly chase any ace to river even when he knows he's most likely behind, it's awful to watch and even more so when he's a complete luckbox.

I came 3rd out of 8 Top 2 got paid :/ Ridiculous blind structure

The blinds went up every 'once around the table' and they went 10/20 20/40 40/80 50/100 100/200 200/400 400/800 500/1000

With only 3000 starting chips it turned into a bit of a crapshoot at the end with only 4 players left in from 200/400 blinds. oh well

The only 'professionally' organized live tourney I played turned out to be a complete joke. 21 players, 9 places paid, so the top prizes were rubbish. In addition, the tourney started off shorthanded and finished up full ring for the final table (4 tables to begin with). The starting stack was a mere 1000 chips (for £10! = $20) and the blinds started off at 25/50 and doubled every 10 minutes until reaching 400/800, meaning everyone was wiped out in no time, so it was the terrible value for money (in both entertainment value and potential prizes).

Sufficient reason not to go there again methinks.

Don't have access to any casinos and friends don't like playing for money ^^
