The markets do not have to go up for you to profit ;)

I know that, but in order to have a short-selling equities trading account for yourself, you usually need to fund it with at least 20,000USD for opening.

And I wasn't saying the markets would go down, I was saying it could go drastically either way, although that would be a good time to use options/equity hedging, cos you'd just need the market to move drastically either way to make money.

But those kinda things I wouldn't recommend to a first time trader, which is what this guy and others reading this thread probably would be

For your information the stock market and forex market is sadly as rigged as Poker.

You see it can make strange movements, totally against forecasts. Surely it is rigged.

Actually to be serious, there is FX and stock manipulation... there is no poker manipulation. You be the judge of what is "rigged"

are you sure? !!!! what about ultimategamebet-absolute poker they were caught right handed!!!

Well, that way you´re more than right.

Of course, generally speaking, trading is the same as poker, you too need knowledge, capital and experience to become a winner... :) But of course it is impossible to have all three in the beginning :)

Well, as we all understand, OP is a self-admiring master of excuses, but it's a good thread anyways. I too dream of putting some of my poker winnings (a few millions, cough..) to stocks etc, so I could cementize my financial standings. After all, you never know. Maybe after few years European politicians decide that online poker is devils tool and we should ban it once and for all. Never good to keep all of your eggs in one basket.

if u wanna learn something about forex take a look at this site www.babypips.com they have a forex course that u can take(the course is REALY BIG) but they gonna teach you that to become a successful trader it takes a lot of time and dedication(they advise you to complete their course and after that start trading in demo mode having good profit for at least 1 year before you consider switching to real money, u need a good amount of money to start with too)

Superuser is different from a site being rigged.
And always remember that this never happens up until very high stakes.

lol @ people who don't understand variance and think that poker is rigged cause something not highly probable happened.

I try not to think that way as it makes little sense to me why any site would chose to pick on me. If anything it's cost them my business as when I'm running too bad to tolerate on a site then I leave. Find it curious how when I first sign up somewhere I run fine; best hand holds up most of the time and I'm rewarded for making the right decision. Bankroll builds a little over a month or so and then the beats kick in with a vengence and I lose most of the profit. I chalk it up to variance but after moving money around to about 5 sites not I'm curious as to why it's always the same.

After just reading one post from you im pretty sure this statement is wrong. You probably just suck at poker and don't even know it.

Trading/investing is WAY harder then playing poker. The difference is in poker it get's more difficult as you climb stakes whereas in the markets if you make money you can make the same %profit from 1$ or 1 billion $.

And by the way, you make way less profit from trading then playing poker, using the same bankroll. But it can be done :)

PS: If you think any of the two are rigged go work as a cashier for some supermarket and let the big boys do their work. However, small markets can be manipulated.
