They didnt really outsmart anything. They just increased their chances of winning ... The chance of them hitting that hand was still miserably small. Unless PokerStars WANTED them to win.

WANTED them to win?
I hope you're not implying they were pokerstars bots playing so pokerstars don't have to pay out the money, are you? :f_eek:
That would be ridiculous, wouldn't it? :f_p:

Just kidding btw.

As I said previously - they DO have control over which tables the milestone hand will be dealt. The fact that all 300 milestone hands were dealt on cash tables and not the tournament tables PROVES IT.

If they can control that, they definitely can control EXACT TABLE as well. If they want to.

Realistically its a marketing event and 70K is peanuts for them, so I do not think PS as a company cheated in this way. Especcially because they could chose another table (I would chose some micro stakes table without any regulars and make a huge story about it), not the one which causes so much controversy and grief. Thats no good for them.

Can an underpaid employee made this 70K present for him or his buddies? I dont know how tight security is there, so its for somebody else to judge. I hope not, but...

In the same way I hoped that random number generator (or whatever you call the "dealer" there) cannot be adjusted and fiddled with. That it runs in some closed room with ultra tight security and such, but it is apparenly not true.

If they can adjust it for marketing campaign, then they can adjust it to clash AA vs. KK more often, adjust draws not completing more often, big hands running into each other more often... just to increase the rake generation.

I do disagree. It probably simply is an algorithm that prevents a milestone to be on a tournament table but you could always ask them.

Reading between the lines I shall take a wild guess that none of the above contributors won a prize through this promotion? ;)

Well, youre not exactly disagreeing there. :f_p: Thats exactly what I am talking about - altering the RNG. In that way you can write a simple algorithm to put a milestone hand on table where player X is sitting. Technically, there is no difference really.

IMO there is a big difference. in the way that if they make it a cash game promotion. the counter just adjust to get the milestone hand on the next cash table hand. Still goes in order and there is nothing wrong with that. You will note that it is not an RNG (generating a random number) but a simple counter.

if they want to make it a cash game promotion only they will have to alter the way the counter is incrementing or people would lose on so many milestones and possibly the mega milestone. And the promotion would lose it's value.

They have no real interest in making it go to one table rather than another as the bad press that could result out of it is so much greater than the few hundreds or even thousands of dollars that they would save by altering the table.

Just my opinion ofc

I am not the conspiray theorist and mostly I agree with you, but... you have to agree that even altering the counter is not right.

It was a 70 billionth HAND promotion, right? I haven't read anywhere that it was 70 billionth CASH hand promotion. So how is that fair?

If they want to do it separate, then make separate counters for cash and tourney games. Simple. No cheating.

p.s. Please keep in mind that I am playing mostly cash games and I could easily play cash at the time of promotion, but I did not because I just wanted to play tourneys at that day and time and I was not going to change just because of some promotion. So I am arguing here just for the sake of argument really and I am not a sore loser :f_cool:

Milestones T&C

The milestone hands element of the Promotion is only applicable to real money ring games. The winner(s) of a milestone hand will be deemed to be any player that won a portion of the main pot of the hand. The fifty hands used to calculate the prize money must be dealt in the sixty minutes prior to the milestone hand being dealt. Any hands dealt before this 60 minute period will be excluded from the calculation. All prizes will be credited in USD.

Only cash game hands dealt on the Client found on the Site are eligible for prizes in the Promotion. Cash game hands dealt in the Home Games product are excluded from the Promotion.

also on main page:

Prizes are being paid out to players sitting at the table where every millionth hand is dealt from 69,700,000,000 to 70,000,000,000, and all you have to do for a chance of winning is play real money ring games.

I think it is clear enough for me.
