I hope lessthanthree doesn't come into this thread until at least dinner time or late at night.
Only reason chenny was here was because he busted
hey guys. made day 2 with 43,175. 72BBs for the start of day 2. avg stack is approx 38k.
tbh the day was pretty standard, i had a nit image at the table mainly because of card distribution but i managed to win a few key pots to grind it up a little bit. the table seemed pretty good except for the fact that chenny was sitting 3 seats to my right ! i had the best seat but somehow didnt get too many playable spots. had a few spots where i would 3bet like a 50% range but ended up being dealt absolute garbage... wanted some back-up equity because live peeps love defending 3bets.

first big hand was when i chose a realllllly nitty line, under-repped my hand a lot and got paid. everyone is around 200bbs deep. reg limps EP, i limp behind KJs in MP2 (could raise, but decided to be a nit). BTN (old guy, typical loose passive) limps behind, SB (reg, no history) completes, BB checks. flop J33dd. checks around to me, i v bet 60%, folds to reg SB who raises 3x. turn 5x. checks, check (could vbet, but again... think i can balance my mid pairs here with this check). river J (yay easy decisions). he leads around 60% and i min-raise. he folds. not really that interesting, but that was a decent pot.
another interesting hand was at 100/200/25 . everyone is around 150bbs deep. old guy opens EP to 600. i flat in UTG+3 with 66. reg on the BTN flats and the BB flats. EP is old, but not really a nit, assumed to be bad. BTN is a reg (same reg as the KJs hand). flop KKTr. checks around. turn 6. BB leads, i flat, BTN raises, BB flats, i flat. river is blank 5. and it checks through. I think i probably missed a bet here. at the time I was going for a thin c/r but i definitely think just leading the river is better. the BTN's not going to be bluffing that river after 2 callers and the SB is the one who has Kx more often. anyway SB has Kx and BTN mucks.
I didnt play a flop for the next level. completely card dead. think I opened 2 standard hands in EP/MP and was 3bet both times. both times they had it...

damn, it appears as if lessthanthree has busted short of the money. He doesn't appear in this list: http://www.pokermedia.com.au/category/107-december-9-spss-main-event-day-2.aspx which looks like it's the first full list of players posted for this event. There are 27 people in the list and it says there are only 27 players left. Unlucky guys.
TLDR version : busted 35th , 17 short of the money. swingy day. lost AK < KJ for my last 10 bigs.
long version:
picked up a lot of nice pots early when i card racked in really good spots. just seemed to pick up AK in really obvious 3bet spots and get paid. unfortunately only for 1 or 2 bets.

chipped up to 60k from my 33k without a showdown in the first level. then my first major pot was when i raised T9s bvb vs an aggro old reggy guy, seemed a bit spewy. seem him 4bet bluff a reg and just be quite aggro all round. we have around 75bbs eff (im shortest) . flop JTx i cbet he flats, turn 4x i c/c, river 5x i c/c again. i had 1 psb left on the river and was preparing to call a ship as well. this was my peak for the day when i had 88k.
next big pot was when i made a mistake. although im not really sure exactly how bad it is. it could go either way. fish raises mp, very very bad player, very good reg (monsterdong) 3bets HJ std size, i cold 4bet the SB quite big (2.7x) i have 88k. my 4bet was to 17k. fish tank flats, HJ folds. flop J44r . fish has exactly 1 psb left. i tank and end up jamming. fish tank calls QQ. i think i should check here. the fish range is something like TT/JJ/QQ/AK . Maybe KK and maybe AQ (although prob not). i should prob just check here maybe just c/f or try get to SD somehow. I couldnt fathom folding this for 1 psb and i didnt know what he would do with the AK in his range. but AK combos are reduced because i have AJ and HJ 3bets a lot of Axs. so yeah i think this was a mistake. anyway he later tells me he was really close to folding. so maybe bluff jamming AJ there isnt so bad

after that pot i was hovering between 8-20bigs for the rest of the day.
last hand was the first hand i was AI and called. quite standard AK v KJ although the guy tank called getting odds (standard for live poker though). , flop QT9 , i missed royal flush + broadway redraw.
quite a disappointing end, but it really wasnt that close. even if i doubled there i still only have 20 bigs on quite a tough table with a long way til the money. then another long way til the bigger money. anyway GG guys, thanks for backing me. sorry I couldnt pull out a cash.
