In this case I had some read on my opponent. He was playing quite loose with a VPIP of 45 and I saw him raising a lot, so I definitely do not give him credit to hold a Q. With my pocket pair and the gutshot it was a push for me. My question is what would have been a correct play against unknown or a tighter opponent? I think I did the same because I'm pot commited getting approx. 2:1 and having 4.92 left in a 8.35 pot. Yr. advises?

Against Unknown on such a board I would fold.

Are you sure about this fold?
I mean, we have to pay 3$ for a 12$ pot, there is just one overcard and I'm positive we still have at least 6 good outs.

With 6 outs your odds wolud be 3:1, so i think its a call here. The pot is 8,35, and you have to call $2,00 (4:1).

Pot Odds: $2.35 + $2 + 4.92 (we don`t have any fold equity with 0.92 left) -~ $0.35 (blinds)/ $2.92 = 3.054 : 1
1 / (3.054 +1) = 24.6 %

Equity: I won`t put unknown on any specific range, lets just figure out our equity against possible type of hands he might have:

- 88, 99 ~ 23% equity
- Qx hands ~ 26% equity

against all the other hands (except small % of 2 pair+) we have more equity, then we need. Therefore, in this case we have to protect against a possible semi-bluff, even against unknown. Given the limit, our average equity will be higher, since range would be wider (pockets, Ax hands)

Protecting form semi-bluffs is a huge part of postflop SSS. Unfortunately, there is no statistics, which helps us to determine how often opponent semi-bluffs. Even passive players are often capable of. In general, the looser is player preflop, the tougher call we can make postflop, if he reraises.

what is the conclusion of your calculation?

If I read it right a push against unknown would be close but right?

fine so I try to ignore my todays session to post NL50 hands soon. I think today I should have a look at my hands. But my KK busted three times are no worse to be posted, because in any case went in with the better hand. But I#m sure to find some hand to b discussed about.
