Basic staking advice needed

Hi,

Please excuse my ignorance but some brief advice on this issue would be appreciated.

I am a recreational player and I play a lot of local to local-ish live tournaments (for the most part just nightly casino donkaments) and beat them pretty easily and frequently. My mate (who knows nothing about poker) has noticed this and wants to start taking pieces of me simply as a fun way to gamble, which is fine by me as I just play for fun. But I don't know what a fair deal would be re. percentages as I'm naive regarding this sort of gamblo stuff.

So if I was playing a £200 tournament and gave me £50, that's 25%. But I'm assuming it would be irregular to simply hand 25% of any cash to him, as I'm the one doing the work, sat there for two days winning the money. What is the orthodoxy here? Is it like 24%, or 19%, or literally at the varying discretion of the people involved?

I'm just after a rough idea because he's a mate and I don't want to be unintentionally ripping him off through having no understanding of fair staking.

Cheers in advance.

This is pretty simple. Someone buy 25% of your action, you pay them 25% of your winnings. :)

Then there is this term called markup.

That is not correct. If he covers 25% of your buy-in, he should get about half of that percentage, which would be 12.5%.

If this was correct, if someone bought 100% of your action, you would be playing for nothing, since he'd be getting 100% of the profit.

basically if u play for fun and have small amount of experience, its not right to think that you deserve to get paid for what you are doing by charging your friend.
charging for your service is called mark up (% you take to yourself for playing). Mark up depends on your ROI (return of Investment) in that type of tournaments. if you think that you have big edge and have some proof of that you can charge some % with mark up.
For example if you have ROI around 20% your mark up could be around 10%, so that buyer and seller can split shares 50/50.

so in this sample if your probable ROI is 20% you can sell 25% for 55 pounds and take 5 pounds for yourself
