Hey folks! I’ve been thinking about making a new poker app, but before diving in, I wanted to ask - do you usually try out new apps or prefer to stay with trusted ones? I know a lot of players care about smooth play and security, so I’m curious if there’s still interest in trying something new

If I'm going to actually play using a poker app, I have to trust it. If I'm going to trust it, somebody like PokerStrategy.com must endorse it. And to be fair, even PokerStrategy.com has partnered with some sites that became untrustworthy.
If it is an app that makes playing poker easier, or if it is an app that teaches poker principles, I'll give it a try, but I'm unlikely to just randomly install it without someone's recommendation.
Several members have created free poker tools in the past and posted them here. There was once even a poker tracker.

I’m in this Discord group with some friends who love playing poker together, and it got me thinking - maybe I should try building my own poker app. Just curious how big this niche is and how hard it might be. Haven’t really done any number crunching yet (sure it’s a lot 😂), but I feel like there’s at least some audience for a start. Mainly wanna know if people are open to trying some new apps.

If you are going to compete in the entire poker ecosystem, it is going to need to be one hell of a good app.

I’m thinking of something simple to start with - more of a social poker app for my own circle at first. The idea is to play private games together, maybe with a few fun features to help people learn and get better over time (like hand replays or some basic tips during play). Nothing super advanced like solvers or pro tools.
If it turns out well and people enjoy it, I’d love to improve it over time and maybe open it up to a wider audience later on. But for now, just testing the waters.
